Pseudocolor density zones turn black

I've looked for postings about the following problem I'm having. I hope I haven't missed an obvious answer, but please provide advice if you have any.

When rending a 2-d hydro data set with the configuration below, using a pseudocolor plot of the density, the plot displays properly for the first time step. When advancing time step by time step, the density profile looks fine until suddenly, at one step, the outer zone turns black. On subsequent steps, the black zone grows larger, until there is ultimately just a white circle in the center.

Dragging the time slider back to the start and clicking "Reset View" in the display window restores the plot properly at the first step, but the process repeats itself when again stepping through the timesteps.

A lineout plot of the density shows that the profile looks fine, even when advancing to the time steps in which the Pseudocolor begins to turn black. Nothing seems to be going out of range, or encountering NaN values.

Importantly, the same data set displays fine on Visit 3.4.1 - but run on a different Mac, because 3.4.1 doesn't run properly on my newer Mac. The Mac on which I encounter the problem has an Apple M4 Max chip.

Update to above: I have installed VisIt 3.4.2 on my linux machine, and the same files display fine here. The problem seems to be with the Mac installation.

Thanks for the update.
We in the last stages of releasing VisIt 3.5.0 and it includes many improvements.

I think the best plan is for you to try the new macOS release of 3.5.0.
