v0.2.0
A clearer interface (#19)
- The answer first: how the session ended, in plain words ("Ended abruptly: no shutdown, a power cut, a forced power-off or a freeze"), then the facts around it.
- Problems by time, between the moments of the session: started, went to sleep, woke up, the end.
Tlists them by importance. - The machine of each session: model, CPU, RAM, graphics and kernel, from the session's own journal, and a note when the kernel changed from the session before. Also in the report.
- Long kernel reports folded in a problem's journal lines: an out-of-memory goes from 571 lines to 12.
- No blank panels while moving through the sessions; the ones next to the selected one are read ahead.
- A quieter style: colour only where it means something, one set of words everywhere.
Simpler rules (#9)
One level (err, warn, info, context, hidden, off), the line written as it is in text with {name} placeholders, examples inside the rule, no regular expressions. Your rules come first and can change or turn off a built-in one by its id. See docs/RULES.md.
Fewer commands (#11)
whyd [-b N] [--file PATH] the session in the interface (as text in a pipe or a file)
whyd report [-b N] [--file PATH] the Markdown report, redacted
whyd rules [FILE|DIR...] the rules in use, checked
Fixes
- No crash on a cache file with no sessions (#13).
- Each out-of-memory problem shows the memory of its own report, not the first one's.
Breaking
-
Rules written for 0.1 must be rewritten in the new format (docs/RULES.md).
-
Commands:
whyd list, whyd rules test,--text,--raw,-u,--days,--allare gone. Before Now whyd list -uthe interface, Uwhyd --textwhyd | less, orwhyd > filewhyd report --rawthe interface: R, thenXwhyd rules test [file]whyd rules [file] -
Words of the text output and of the report: abrupt end, shut down, restarted, never woke up (were no shutdown, power-off, reboot, died asleep); error and warning (were err and warn); "Other warnings" (was "Not recognised").
