Found on a vCenter 8.0.3 lab with two restricted SSO accounts (follow-up to AIops#47).

  • A host this account cannot read is no longer reported as down. An account with Read-only on one VM sees that
VM's host by name only: runtime.connectionState reads None. get_cluster_health_summary ranked it
host_down / critical ("host None") and get_cross_vcenter_attention put it first. It is now counted in
hosts_unreadable, raises a warning issue host_unreadable (ranked after a real outage), and moves the row to
WARN (unknown is not OK either). Every surface shows "(N unreadable)": cluster card (amber, not red), totals strip,
attention cards and totals, and the CLI lines.
  • get_ntp_status no longer calls an unreadable host unreachable. Instead of "vCenter cannot reach this host
... reconnect", the row has reachable: null, with hosts_unreadable and unreadable_note in the result.
inventory hosts colours an unreadable state yellow, not red.
  • A login vCenter refuses with NoPermission gets the role error, not the raw fault. For an account with no
permission anywhere, vCenter refuses the login itself (System.View on the root folder), so the 2.3.1 post-login
check never ran and doctor/MCP showed the raw fault with a connectivity hint. It now raises the no-role error:
the "no vSphere role / Global Permissions" remedy only for a vCenter target and System.View; an ESXi target or
another privilege gets a neutral text naming the (sanitized) privilege. A wrong password (InvalidLogin) is
    unchanged.
