Release Notes - Client-Side Binary v3.0.0

New Features and Enhancements:

  • FIPS Compliance for Linux Binaries

The Linux client-side binaries are now fully FIPS compliant. This update ensures that all cryptographic operations in the Linux binaries adhere to the strict standards set by Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), making the binaries suitable for use in regulated and secure environments that require FIPS compliance.

  • 100% SRP Compliance for All Binaries

All client-side binaries now achieve 100% SRP (Security Requirements for Platforms) compliance. This provides enhanced security and ensures the software meets the latest industry standards for security and regulatory requirements across all platforms.

  • Pinniped CLI Upgrade to v0.35.0

The Pinniped CLI has been upgraded to version v0.35.0. Key updates include: Full FIPS support for cryptographic operations, enabling usage in FIPS-compliant environments. TLS 1.3 support, offering improved security and better performance for encrypted communications.

  • Workload-Cli-Runtime Upgrade to v1.0.0

The runtime has been upgraded to version v1.0.0. This upgrade includes security improvements, and new features to enhance the overall runtime environment, ensuring better compatibility and efficiency across the platform.

  • VCF Context Management Enhancements

The VCF context management system has been improved to support saving certificates using the vcf config cert command. Additionally, certificates can now be reused across different contexts, improving the ease of configuration and reducing the need to manually manage certificates each time.

Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements:

  • Context Management Bug Fixes: Several issues with context management have been addressed to improve the reliability and stability of user contexts during operations. These fixes provide more predictable behaviour when managing multiple contexts and configurations.

Upgrade Notes:

  • FIPS Compliance: Linux users operating in FIPS-compliant environments should upgrade to take advantage of the newly supported FIPS compliance.

  • SRP Compliance: All binaries are now 100% compliant with SRP, ensuring your application is fully aligned with the latest security protocols.

  • Pinniped CLI v0.35.0: Upgrading to this version ensures compatibility with FIPS and TLS 1.3, as well as performance improvements.

  • Runtime v1.0.0: The runtime upgrade to v1.0.0 introduces important enhancements to improve the overall platform performance. Please review any runtime-specific configuration changes that may be necessary.

  • VCF Context Management: The ability to save and reuse certificates in VCF contexts significantly streamlines management, especially for large-scale environments. Ensure to use the new vcf config cert command for certificate management.
