VIsage v1.1.0
Which file do I need?
| System | Easiest (recommended) | Other formats |
|---|---|---|
| Windows (64-bit) | Installer (.exe) | MSI · Portable (.zip) |
| Linux x86-64 (most PCs) | AppImage | .deb (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint) · .rpm (Fedora, openSUSE) · Arch · .tar.gz |
| Linux ARM64 (Raspberry Pi 4/5, ARM laptops) | AppImage | .deb · .rpm · .tar.gz |
- AppImage: make it executable (
chmod +x) and run it. It updates itself. The Windows installer and MSI update themselves too. - Not sure? Windows: take the Installer. Linux: take the AppImage.
- Linux without libmpv: VIsage asks once and downloads it. On NixOS this is the normal path.
- Files named
latest.json,SHA256SUMS,PKGBUILDandvisage-libmpv-*are for the updater and for packagers. You do not need them.
Highlights
- New Material 3 Expressive Blur option (Settings → Interface → Layout): frosted glass top bar, mini-player, sidebars, queue and player controls over a tinted, scrolling page background.
- Update notice is now a small toast at the bottom left with Update now, Later and Skip.
- Discord Rich Presence shows as Watching and can add a song button (opens it on YouTube Music) and a VIsage button.
- Music video: faster start, less stutter, quality picker on hover, and yt-dlp is bundled.
- Paste a YouTube or YouTube Music link in Search to see the video; Enter plays it.
- Separate heading and body font pickers, a redesigned region/language dialog, and a reorganised Interface settings page.
- Seek bar styles redesigned (Wavy, Expressive).
- Lower memory use: smaller heap and idle RAM, caches are dropped instead of running out of memory.
- Fixed the logged-in Home feed not matching YouTube.

Highlights
- Home shows YouTube's own Quick picks shelf.
- New Square cover option in Settings → Now Playing → Cover.
- libmpv: wider lookup (NixOS, Guix,
LD_LIBRARY_PATH). If none is found, VIsage downloads its own copy (about 15 MB). - Smaller download: the Chromium sign-in component is fetched on first use, and unused icon and SQLite files are removed.
- Flatpak build fix.
