Voicebrain v0.3.0

Default: 2 metro.

Bagong logo at app icon

  • English-Tagalog dictionary sa Voice Assistant: "ano ang apple sa Tagalog", "what is water in Tagalog", "translate kumusta to English".

Voicebrain v2.0 — Adjustable LiDAR Settings & Black and White Theme
What's New: Settings > LiDAR Sensor
Previously, the obstacle detection threshold for the LiDAR sensor was fixed at 1 meter.
This can now be customized directly from its dedicated screen in Settings:

Obstacle Detection Distance — A slider ranging from 1 to 8 meters (in 0.5-meter increments). The chosen distance determines when the app announces an obstacle ahead. Default: 2 meters.

Proximity Warning — A toggle switch to enable or disable the rapid, recurring alert: "Stop. Obstacle ahead." When turned off, only the standard obstacle warning will trigger.

Warning Distance — A slider ranging from 0.5 meters up to the value set in the detection slider. Default: 1 meter. This threshold cannot exceed the detection range, as no obstacles are reported beyond that distance.

Every adjustment is reinforced with immediate voice confirmation (e.g., "Will report obstacles at 3 meters or closer."). Preferences persist even after closing the app and take effect immediately in the navigation mode without requiring an app restart. This functionality is also fully integrated into the spoken help guide (Info button).

High-Contrast Black & White Theme — Battery Optimized
The entire interface has transitioned to a pure black-and-white palette aligned with the new branding, phasing out previous purple and cyan accents.

Uses true black (#000000) instead of soft dark gray: on OLED and AMOLED displays, black pixels are completely turned off, consuming zero power. This drastically reduces battery consumption during extended sessions where the screen remains continuously active.

The interface enforces a dark theme regardless of system-wide light mode settings, preventing power-intensive white backgrounds on OLED hardware.

The window background, status bar, and navigation bar are now consistently set to true black, eliminating white flashes upon app launch.

Luminance now conveys urgency: high-contrast white denotes active obstacles and emergency triggers, while mid-gray indicates a clear path. This significant increase in contrast improves readability for low-vision users.

Updated Branding & App Icon
In-App Branding: Clean white "V" emblem on a transparent background.

Launcher Icon: Complete official logo featuring the "V" emblem with the VOICEBRAIN wordmark beneath it, rendered in monochrome on a solid plate. Centered within Android's adaptive safe zones to prevent edge clipping across circular, squircle, or rounded-corner system masks.

Regenerated all adaptive icon densities (mdpi through xxxhdpi) across standard and round variants.

The previous yellow "No flashlight available" label under Help Signal is now neutral gray, accurately classifying it as an informational notice rather than an actionable warning.

Installation & Deployment Notes
If an earlier release build signed with a different debug or release keystore is installed, uninstall the existing build before installing this update.

Some device launchers may require a system restart or a few minutes to refresh the launcher icon cache before the new adaptive icon appears.

Signed production release APK. Minimum requirement: Android 7.0 (API Level 24).

Voicebrain — Update Notes
🆕 New Features
-Weather — just ask "what's the weather" to hear current conditions at your location.
-Simple Math / Calculator — the Voice Assistant now answers math questions, including chained expressions (e.g. "5000 plus 365 minus -50 plus 10 times 6") using proper order of operations.
-Day of a specific date — "what day is August 25" tells you what day of the week any date falls on.
-Auto Send Location — automatically texts your location to Emergency Contact 1 every 5–60 minutes (customizable in Settings), starting -right when the app opens.
-Object Detection now announces everything it sees in front of the camera (up to 4 objects), not just the nearest one.
✨ Improvements
-Redesigned Settings — now a menu-style layout like a phone's OS settings (Language, Nickname, Voice, Emergency Contacts, etc., each with its own screen).

-The LiDAR sensor now takes priority whenever it detects an obstacle.
