Skill Shelf v0.1.14

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 05:10

What's New

  • The Workbench now opens a dedicated Agent access workspace instead of expanding Agent rows. Choose an Agent from a searchable sidebar, then switch between shared Skill access, local files, and Agent information.
  • Connect selected global shared Skills using symbolic links or independent copies. Inspect each Skill's source, Agent path, ownership, and status in a separate details panel, and review every filesystem operation before confirming.
  • Managed copies now distinguish matching files, source updates, and local modifications using file-content and executable-bit fingerprints. Unchanged copies can be updated manually; locally modified copies are protected from replacement and removal.
  • Repair managed links or disconnect managed relationships without deleting the shared source. Existing external links and folders remain visible but are never adopted, overwritten, or removed by this workspace.
  • Access previews expire and recheck paths, contents, and ownership when applied. Failed filesystem changes attempt rollback; retained recovery files and incomplete post-operation checks are reported explicitly, including recovery folders rediscovered after restarting the app.
  • Returning from a preview preserves the shared-access search, filter, connection mode, selection, and inspected Skill. Returning to the Workbench preserves overview filters and restores focus. Agent and view switching are disabled while filesystem changes are applied.
  • Corrected shared Skill coverage for hidden universal readers. Overview counts describe matching Skill names rather than verified copies or execution, and Skills outside the shared directory appear as an additional-local-Skills note.

Access Scope

Agent access manages global shared Skills from ~/.agents/skills in Agent-specific directories. Agents that read the shared directory directly need no additional links or copies. Project deployments and independent Pack copies keep their existing workflows.

Symbolic links share the original files, so edits through an Agent path also affect the source and other linked Agents. Independent copies do not synchronize automatically; source updates require a new preview. Filesystem checks do not prove that an Agent loaded or executed a Skill.

Management records remain local in agent-skill-access.json. Existing external files are not automatically adopted. If configured Agent directories change, access management fails closed rather than silently moving ownership; the rest of the application can still start.

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 09:06

What's New

  • Projects now have an instruction editor for AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md. Keep shared rules in AGENTS.md and connect Claude with its native @AGENTS.md import while preserving existing instructions. Saves check for external edits and back up previous file contents.
  • Packs now opens a built-in Default collection plus additional Packs. Every import creates a complete independent Skill copy in the selected Pack and folder. Existing shared members migrate into separate copies, preserving organization and keeping deployments on the original copy.
  • Skills and Packs now share the same icon, list, and column views, folder navigation, grouping, context menus, selection, and drag interactions. Each Pack folder retains its own view and layout settings. Deleting a Pack removes its owned copies after confirmation; active linked deployments must be removed first.
  • Sync and file exports now include every Skill in Default and all other Packs with their complete files, descriptions, folders, colors, tags, positions, and view settings. Copies stay independent across Packs and repeated imports. Previews show additions, file changes, and organization conflicts, with backups and rollback protecting local data.
  • Export Pack shares one collection and its Skill files without app preferences, installed Skill organization, AI configuration, or credentials. The recipient can preview and import the file through Settings > Sync.
  • Sorting defaults to descending, with folders always ahead of individual Skills. Ascending and descending apply within each item kind, and saved sorting preferences remain respected.
  • Fixed Packs page loading failures and replaced its old loading grid with a complete workspace skeleton. The sidebar, page header, navigation, search, and content area retain their positions through loading, including sidebar preferences and narrower windows.

Sync Compatibility

New sync files and cloud snapshots use version 5. Update participating computers to this release before exchanging new snapshots. Versions 1 through 4 remain importable. Older metadata-only backups can restore available local copies but cannot recreate missing Skill files; upload again from the updated app to include them.

Original installed Skill files, deployment records, machine paths, WebDAV credentials, and project instruction files are excluded from sync. AI configuration remains plain text in full sync exports and cloud backups; selected-Pack exports exclude it.

Updating

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.10 or later can open Settings > About to download this update, then choose Restart and update. Open terminal sessions end during the restart. Your saved shelf and settings are retained, and the previous Packs state is backed up before migration.

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.9 or earlier, or whose current build cannot open, should install this release manually. Quit Skill Shelf, open the installer, and replace the app in a writable Applications folder. Your saved application data is retained.

Intel users can continue using v0.1.6; new releases support Apple Silicon only.

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 04:06

What's New

  • Fixed builds that could produce an empty main-process entry and prevent Skill Shelf from starting. Development and production builds now use a matching CommonJS application entry.
  • Pull data now opens a cloud browser that separates the latest shared data from upload history. Choose a backup by computer, upload time, and Skill/Pack counts, then preview how it applies to your local organization.
  • Cloud imports default to merging with local data. You can explicitly choose replacement for matching Skill management fields and same-name Pack descriptions and membership. Unrelated Skills and Packs remain unchanged; Skill files and installations are not added or removed.
  • Upload data now sends all app preferences and AI configuration in one operation without an upload preview. It merges management data into the shared snapshot and saves a separate original backup for every upload, including repeated uploads from the same computer. Uploads do not modify local stores.
  • New version 4 snapshots include AI provider API keys and enabled states as plain-text configuration in exports and cloud backups. New exports and uploads need no encryption password. Previews show only key presence; older encrypted backups ask for their original password when opened, and file import retries reuse the selected document.
  • WebDAV connections can use a service endpoint such as Nutstore's DAV address. Missing application and backup directories are created automatically, existing snapshot locations remain usable, and conditional writes retain concurrency protection.
  • Upload history recovers older backup files omitted from previous indexes. If shared data uploads successfully but its backup cannot be indexed, the app reports partial success separately.

Updating

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.10 or v0.1.11 can open Settings > About to download this update, then choose Restart and update. If your current build does not open, install this release manually. Open terminal sessions end during an in-app restart. Your Skill shelf and settings are retained.

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.9 or earlier should install this release manually once. Quit Skill Shelf, open the installer, and replace the app in a writable Applications folder. Your saved application data is retained, and this release includes the native filesystem fix for future in-app updates.

Intel users can continue using v0.1.6; new releases support Apple Silicon only.

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 02:21

What's New

  • Saving a WebDAV connection now remembers its password for future launches without accessing the system Keychain. Connection credentials are stored locally as unencrypted JSON with owner-only file permissions and remain separate from your AI configuration encryption password.
  • Existing system-encrypted WebDAV connections retain their URL and username. Enter the WebDAV password once more and save the connection before testing, uploading, or pulling data. Reading the old configuration leaves the original file intact.
  • Sync results and errors now use floating notifications, including errors while a preview is open. Dismissing a notification keeps the preview available for retry, and notifications no longer shift the page layout.
  • AI configuration encryption instructions now explain how to choose a password for export or upload and reuse it on another computer for import or pull. Password errors mark and focus the encryption field after the operation finishes.
  • Input placeholders have clearer colors in both themes. Error notifications use alert semantics, and notification interactions preserve the dialog underneath.

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 20:00

What's New

  • Fixed macOS update installation failing while copying the application bundle. Installation now treats app.asar as a physical archive, so Electron's virtual filesystem no longer interrupts preparation.
  • Update backup cleanup uses the same native filesystem access. A failed installer handoff removes temporary installation files, and temporary preparation cleanup no longer overrides the installation result.

Updating

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.9 or earlier should install this release manually once. The updaters in v0.1.8 and v0.1.9 can fail before the application exits while copying app.asar; retrying does not replace the installed updater code. Earlier versions also require a manual upgrade. This release includes the fix for future in-app updates.

Quit Skill Shelf, open the installer, and replace the app in a writable Applications folder. Your Skill shelf, settings, and other saved application data are retained.

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 18:23

What's New

  • AI configuration sync now transfers provider API keys and connection enabled states alongside models and preferences. Keys are protected with your sync password in file exports and WebDAV snapshots. Previews show only whether a key is present and whether the connection is enabled.
  • Enter the same sync password of at least 8 characters on both computers. It is separate from your WebDAV password and is kept only while the Sync page is open. Other Skill metadata remains readable in the snapshot.
  • You can opt out of importing or uploading AI configuration. Imports of older metadata documents continue to preserve local credentials. Model verification results and conversations remain local, and changing a key resets its verification results.
  • The Packs sidebar now supports collapsing and resizing, remembers its width separately from the Skills sidebar, and keeps your selected Pack and search when reopened. Keyboard controls preserve focus, and the sidebar remains available while the AI panel is open.
  • Packs are grouped under My Packs, with a count and a nearby action for creating a Pack.

Updating

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.8 can open Settings > About to download this update, then choose Restart and update. Open terminal sessions end during the restart. Your Skill shelf and settings are retained.

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.7 or earlier must install this release manually once to enable future in-app updates. Quit Skill Shelf, open the installer, and replace the app in a writable Applications folder. Your saved data is retained.

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 16:05

What's New

  • New macOS releases support Apple Silicon (M1 and later) only. Intel downloads remain available in v0.1.6.
  • Signed updates now support Apple Silicon-only releases while retaining compatibility with historical manifests that contain both architectures.
  • The website offers a single Apple Silicon download, and release builds no longer depend on an Intel build completing.
  • This release also includes the changes from the unpublished v0.1.7: expanded metadata sync for Packs and optional AI preferences, repeatable update checks, compact Skill descriptions with translation controls, and corrected macOS menu bar icons. See the v0.1.7 notes for details.

Updating

Apple Silicon users on v0.1.7 or earlier must install this release manually once. The updaters in v0.1.6 and v0.1.7 require both architectures in the signed manifest and cannot install an Apple Silicon-only release. This release accepts the new manifest for future in-app updates. Your Skill shelf and settings are retained.

To install manually, quit Skill Shelf, open the installer, and replace the app in Applications. Copy the app into a writable Applications folder before using future in-app updates.

Intel users can continue using v0.1.6; newer builds are available for Apple Silicon only.

Skill Shelf v0.1.6

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 09:46

What's New

  • macOS updates can now be downloaded and installed from Settings > About. Skill Shelf verifies an independently signed update manifest, downloads the ZIP for your Mac, and checks the archive and application before offering Restart and update.
  • Update progress now includes download, verification, and installation states. About shows distinct messages for network, verification, permission, installation, and rollback failures, with actions to retry the appropriate step.
  • Restarting to update asks for confirmation because open terminal sessions will end. The installer preserves the previous application and restores it if the new version fails to become ready. Your Skill shelf and settings are retained.

First Upgrade

Install v0.1.6 manually once if you are using v0.1.5 or earlier. Those versions open the release download page and cannot install the new updater into themselves. Later signed releases can be installed in-app.

Copy Skill Shelf into a writable Applications folder before using in-app installation. Applications launched from a DMG, a translocated directory, or a protected folder cannot replace themselves.

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 06:59

What's New

  • The workbench now distinguishes detected Agent programs from directories
    left on disk. Review shared Skill coverage, Agent-only Skills, program
    detection evidence, and file or link issues, and open Agent directories
    directly from the workbench.
  • Transfer Skill organization between computers with file export/import or
    your own WebDAV storage. Preview changes and resolve conflicts before
    merging folders, tags, canvas positions, descriptions, and translations.
    Skill files, installation paths, and account keys stay on each computer.
  • The installed Skills sidebar can be resized, collapsed, and restored.
    Search and update filters show matching Skills across folders, and search
    fields have consistent clear and Escape behavior.
  • Loading placeholders now follow the layout of the workbench, Skill lists,
    discovery pages, projects, and file browser.
  • Settings > About now shows the app version, project links, and clearer
    update actions. A dot on Settings highlights an available app update.
  • Development builds use separate application data and identity from the
    installed release. Form controls also have improved contrast across themes.

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 10:38

What's New

  • Skill Shelf opens without requesting macOS Keychain access. Saving API keys
    and AI conversations also no longer requires Keychain authorization.

  • API keys and conversations are now saved locally without encryption, in
    files restricted to your macOS user account.

  • To keep AI data saved by an older version, open Settings > AI > Providers
    and choose Restore previous AI data. macOS may ask for permission during
    this one-time recovery. Original encrypted files are retained as backups;
    a failed recovery can be retried.

  • Recovered conversations appear immediately in the AI assistant, including
    when it was already open before recovery.
