QuickOpenData 0.2

Choose a tag to compare

@volaya volaya released this 16 Jun 21:11

Adds cloud-native GeoParquet support — read datasets straight from object storage (Portolan / STAC), with no server.

Highlights

  • New geoparquet dataset type — added as a live OGR layer over GDAL's /vsicurl/ (HTTP range reads, no download). CRS comes from the GeoParquet metadata.
  • Downloads for GeoParquet — Download current extent to file… (clip to the current/chosen extent, recommended) and Download full to file… (gated by a size warning). Results are reprojected to the project CRS and cached per extent.
  • import_stac tool — walk a STAC / Portolan catalog into catalog JSON.
  • Bundled Spain catalog (cloud_native_geoparquet.json) — Overture places/buildings and VIDA building footprints, hosted on Source Cooperative.
  • New filter category and icon distinguishing cloud-native sources from OWS services.

Install

In QGIS: Plugins → Manage and Install Plugins → Install from ZIP, pick the attached `quickopendata-0.2.zip`.

Requires QGIS ≥ 3.28 (GDAL ≥ 3.5), needed for reading cloud-native GeoParquet.
