Forza Motorsport on Linux

Get from a Steam installation to your first drive, with a way back if setup goes wrong. This community project brings together a dedicated Proton tool, Xodus for Xbox services, and the fixes used to get Forza Motorsport running on Linux.

The experimental v0.3 preview packages a complete custom Proton tool with a recoverable installer and SteamOS GUI app. Controlled VM tests passed, and a Venus workaround enabled repeat menu/profile loading and a short Free Play drive with normal exit. Preview 2 retesting stalled before completing a lap; Hakone benchmark loading remains unresolved, and performance and physical Deck gameplay are unverified. Preserve an existing working setup. Fresh v0.2 bootstrap is retired; use the composed preview for new installations.

Is this for my system?

The composed preview targets Arch Linux or SteamOS x86_64, native Steam, and the Steam edition of Forza Motorsport (AppID 2440510). One unambiguous primary or additional game library is required. Flatpak Steam is unsupported. You'll need your own licensed Microsoft threading DLL; it is not included.

The maintainer's existing custom FM setup worked in-game on one desktop. That historical result does not establish fresh bootstrap or Steam Deck success. The detailed, dated gameplay matrix belongs to v0.1; see what was tested before drawing wider conclusions. Incoming invite notifications are not supported.

What setup handles

The preview publishes a separate, complete GE-Proton11-3-FM with the controller and AP702 fixes already built in. Finish installs the private DLL and user integration without changing that tool, and keeps recovery records. You handle Steam's settings, the licensed DLL, Microsoft sign-in, and launching the game. Run setup as your regular user, without sudo.

Already have a working installation? Read Recovery before replacing anything. A clean diagnostic report means ready to attempt a launch; testing a game session is the next step.
