@voltura voltura released this 26 Oct 03:26

Voltura Worlds 0.1.9 — Sharper Pluto

Pluto now has clearer terrain across its far side and a repaired southern texture boundary.

  • Removed the thin dark line near the bottom of the globe by replacing the reflected fill that copied the original image coverage edge.
  • Reconstructed crisp far-side craters and icy terrain to bring their visual clarity closer to the encounter hemisphere, while retaining the original high-resolution heart region.
  • Closed the longitude texture wrap and refreshed the native Pluto preview on the product site.

The far-side and southern details are an artistic reconstruction based on the broad New Horizons map, not new spacecraft measurements. Source attribution, the generation prompt and reproducible texture build inputs are included in the repository.

Run VolturaWorlds-Setup-0.1.9-win-x64.exe for Windows 11 x64. Existing settings, imported videos and startup preferences are retained. Version 0.1.8 can receive this release through its optional automatic updater. Versions 0.1.7 and earlier require the manual installer because of their older download-size limit.

The application and installer use the existing timestamped Voltura AB signing certificate. SHA256SUMS.txt accompanies the installer.

Validation: all 44 native CTest checks and 62 signed-updater checks passed, including modified-payload rejection. Isolated installer tests passed installation, signed helper upgrades, ordinary upgrades, startup opt-out, all 22 packaged Worlds, video, desktop-host recovery and uninstallation with retained library data. The local 0.1.8-to-0.1.9 upgrade preserved settings and preferences. Native rendering and installer UI checks use private Windows desktops.

Voltura Worlds 0.1.8 — Explore the Solar System

Choose a tag to compare

@voltura voltura released this 26 Oct 02:05

Voltura Worlds 0.1.8 brings the Solar System to your desktop, with eleven new Worlds and 22 Worlds in total.

  • Explore Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Moon, Pluto and Sun. Photographic scenes use bundled NASA and partner imagery; Venus, Uranus and Neptune use artistic procedural reconstructions. See the linked asset notices and scene documentation for sources and rendering limits.
  • Choose Random Solar System to cycle through the eight planets, Moon, Pluto and Sun. Enable optional palette-matched body statistics, saved per display.
  • Enjoy calm planetary rotation, shared catalog stars, scene-specific controls and optional local audio reaction. The previous metallic World is now called Plastic metal.
  • The product page includes eight-second recordings from the native renderer for all eleven additions, alongside the existing Worlds, with an updated social preview.
  • The updater supports larger downloads and a longer transfer deadline for future releases.

Updating from 0.1.7 or earlier requires a manual download of this installer. The bundled textures exceed those versions' 64 MiB automatic-update limit. Run VolturaWorlds-Setup-0.1.8-win-x64.exe for Windows 11 x64. No administrator access is required. Settings, imported videos and startup preferences are retained.

The application and installer use the existing timestamped Voltura AB signing certificate. It is self-signed and is not publicly trusted. SHA256SUMS.txt accompanies the installer.

Validation: all 44 native CTest checks, 62 signed-updater checks and modified-payload rejection, all 22 eight-second media files, scene-switching/playback regression checks, and isolated per-user installer lifecycle checks passed. The installer checks cover signed helper upgrades, ordinary upgrades, startup opt-out, all 22 packaged Worlds, video, synthetic desktop-host recovery and uninstallation with retained library data. Installed scene checks were rerun after correcting a test-only Smoke capture option; completed upgrade checks were retained from the first pass. Native UI/rendering evidence uses private Windows desktops and does not establish physical multi-monitor acceptance.

Voltura Worlds 0.1.7 — Ripples and Random rotation

Choose a tag to compare

@voltura voltura released this 25 Oct 17:58

Ripples brings reflective water to your desktop: overlapping drop waves, gentle wind ripples, drifting cloud reflections and a sandy bottom that fades into deeper water. Pebbles vary in size, shape and natural color, with refraction following the moving surface.

Random mode shuffles through all eleven built-in Worlds without immediate repeats. Each display saves its interval, from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, and the countdown pauses with playback.

The website and README include Ripples, with a new native recording and social preview.

Download VolturaWorlds-Setup-0.1.7-win-x64.exe for Windows 11 x64. Setup runs for your account without administrator access and preserves settings and imported wallpapers during upgrades. SHA256SUMS.txt and the release manifest accompany the installer. Automatic updates remain optional.

Signed and timestamped with the existing Voltura AB publisher certificate. This is the same self-signed publisher used by previous releases; Windows may show an untrusted-publisher warning.

Validation: all 31 native contracts, site playback and mobile layout checks, 62 signed-updater checks, and isolated installation/automatic upgrade/packaged rendering/uninstallation checks passed. Native rendering was verified with offscreen D3D12 readback on private Windows desktops.

Voltura Worlds 0.1.6

Choose a tag to compare

@voltura voltura released this 25 Oct 16:08

Voltura Worlds 0.1.6 refines lighting, materials and motion across all ten Worlds, with refreshed native recordings and social preview on the product site.

  • Softer highlights and bloom, improved depth and reflections, and more distinct motion across the collection.
  • Movement at zero freezes Smoke and prevents audio deformation in frozen Aurora and Bloom. Orbit sunlight now respects Brightness, including zero.
  • Advanced settings makes the library translucent while you adjust your World. Tray menus follow the current display's DPI after reconnects and scale changes.
  • A failed video or renderer recovers per display, while healthy displays keep animating. Switching scenes retries immediately.
  • Cancelling imports keeps the UI responsive; video copies honour cancellation. Stale worker notifications cannot affect reopened dialogs or restarted renderers.
  • Website animations stay paused offscreen when returning to the tab. All ten native videos, posters and the social card have been refreshed.
  • All changed application code, shaders, tests, capture tools and build documentation are included in the source release. Python development requirements are documented and checked before compilation.

Install VolturaWorlds-Setup-0.1.6-win-x64.exe for Windows 11 x64. No administrator access is needed. Existing settings, imported videos and startup preferences are retained. Automatic updates remain available to users who enabled them.

The application and installer are signed and timestamped with the existing self-signed Voltura AB certificate. It is not publicly trusted; Windows may show a publisher or reputation warning. Verify the installer using SHA256SUMS.txt.

Validation: the full 31-test native suite, playback regression checks, signed updater staging/cancellation and isolated installer lifecycle checks. Native rendering evidence uses offscreen D3D12 readback on private Windows desktops. The existing 5% GPU timing target remains unconfirmed for Lattice Eco/Auto; see docs/CINEMATIC.md for measurements and limits.

Voltura Worlds 0.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@voltura voltura released this 25 Oct 12:06

Voltura Worlds 0.1.5

Six new native Worlds join Aurora, Orbit, Smoke and Bloom:

  • Silk: flowing, semi-transparent ribbons with layered colour.
  • Eclipse: a dark disc surrounded by an evolving solar corona.
  • Lattice: a slowly rotating porous mathematical sculpture.
  • Drift: layered bioluminescent particles moving through gentle currents.
  • Contour: animated topographic lines.
  • Mercury: smoothly merging metallic forms with moving reflections.

The new Worlds support the existing palette, brightness, movement, detail, flow, turbulence, density, audio reaction and audio strength controls, along with global quality and frame limits. They are included in the library, tray menu, saved display assignments and data-only .world packages. The product site shows recordings from the native renderer.

Download and install

Download VolturaWorlds-Setup-0.1.5-win-x64.exe from the release and run it. Windows 11 x64 and Direct3D 12 are required. Setup installs for your account without administrator access and offers Start with Windows. GitHub's source archives do not contain a built application.

The application and installer use the existing self-signed Voltura AB certificate with timestamping. This certificate is not publicly trusted; Windows may show a publisher or reputation warning. SHA256SUMS.txt provides the installer checksum.

Updating

Run the installer to upgrade while retaining settings, imported videos and the startup choice. Users who enabled Automatic updates receive the release through the existing verified update channel. Choose Restart to update when available, or Exit Worlds to apply a downloaded update without relaunching. See automatic updates.

Validation

  • Release application and test targets build. Core settings/package roundtrips, capture-time contracts, Bloom regression, native library UI, desktop hosting, imports, video and updater policy checks pass.
  • All six new Worlds pass native control-response checks for brightness, detail, flow, turbulence, density, palette and quality; audio Off/strength zero isolation, Gentle/Expressive response, animation and exact Movement 0 freezing pass. The initial combined run had one Lattice pixel-equality comparison fail while media recording was running; the complete isolated rerun passed without source changes.
  • Portrait and ultrawide captures at high detail/density/turbulence were visually checked for corner seams, edge artifacts and sculpture framing. Twenty switches/resizes across all ten Worlds pass D3D12 debug validation.
  • At 1920 × 1080 High quality on Intel Arc Graphics, 90-frame offscreen runs measured GPU p95 between 1.28 ms (Eclipse) and 3.28 ms (Drift). These short samples do not establish sustained physical desktop performance or power use.
  • The site uses eight-second, 1600 × 900 native recordings. All ten videos, posters, play/pause and reduced-motion behavior pass browser checks at widths from 320 to 1920 pixels. The social card uses the same native output.
  • The signed updater fixture passes 62 staging/cancellation checks and rejects a modified signed executable.
  • Isolated per-user installation, signed automatic upgrade from 0.1.3 to 0.1.5, startup opt-out preservation, all six new packaged shaders, video playback, host recovery and uninstall pass. The application and production installer are signed and timestamped with the existing Voltura publisher certificate.

Focused release checks were used; the unrelated full Smoke simulation suite was not rerun. Native offscreen captures demonstrate rendered output and animation; they do not establish physical desktop presentation or sustained performance on every GPU.

Choose a tag to compare

@voltura voltura released this 25 Oct 11:21

Voltura Worlds 0.1.4

The first public GitHub installer includes Aurora, Orbit, Smoke and Bloom, plus personal H.264 MP4 video wallpapers with silent looping and Fill/Fit.

Download and install

Download VolturaWorlds-Setup-0.1.4-win-x64.exe from this release and run it. Windows 11 x64 and Direct3D 12 are required. Setup installs for your account without administrator access and offers Start with Windows. GitHub's source archives do not contain a built application.

Both the app and installer are signed with the existing self-signed Voltura AB certificate and timestamped. This certificate is not publicly trusted; Windows may show a publisher or reputation warning. SHA256SUMS.txt provides the installer checksum.

Automatic updates

Enable Automatic updates in the notification-area menu. Worlds checks after five seconds and hourly, downloads newer normal GitHub releases in the background, and verifies the checksum, product/version and the same signing certificate. It is off by default. Uninstalled development copies do not update automatically.

Choose Restart to update when it appears, or Exit Worlds to install a ready update without restarting. Closing the library keeps Worlds running. Shutdown and sign-out cancel automatic installation. Your settings, library, imported videos and startup choice are retained. Details: automatic updates.

Validation

  • Release build and all 29 CTest checks passed.
  • All 62 signed updater policy/staging/cancellation checks passed; modified signed payload rejected.
  • Non-elevated isolated install, automatic signed 0.1.3-to-0.1.4 upgrade, startup opt-out, packaged native rendering/video, synthetic host recovery and uninstall passed.
  • Both production executable and installer have verified Authenticode digests, the selected Voltura certificate and timestamps.
