Mission

One of our big challenges is and will continue to be awareness and attracting participation. People looking at an open source project don't always understand that they're actively invited to participate and that whatever skillset they have will be happily welcomed. The role of evangelism here is to attract these people and to help get them contributing.

Organization

Workflow

Buffer is used for the majority of our social media. Team members will keep a regularly updated queue of scheduled outgoing content in Buffer. We try to keep to 1-3 posts a week, but realize that's a pretty aspirational goal. All posts should be made via Buffer.

We also regularly log in to the social media accounts and engage by

  • responding to comments
  • responding to posts from community members
  • boosting or resharing other relevant content

We provide a service to the rest of the Vox community by monitoring the #sig-social-media slack channel. In that channel, users can

  • share links to posts that should be liked, commented on, or boosted
  • share insights about community posts to help us respond
  • share content that should be posted from the Vox Pupuli channels. This will be cut & pasted, so make sure that it's accurate.

Resources

Account login info is stored in gopass. LinkedIn does not have a Vox login, instead individual personal accounts are assigned to own/manage the page.
