Smart Home for Elderly

Victor Hayashi edited this page Feb 11, 2020 · 2 revisions

Open source smart speaker for voice interactions as an alternative to Google Home and Alexa, aimed at channel customization applications for the elderly and reminders of non-invasive remedies. The work received an honorable mention, as one of the best course completion papers of 2019 in computer engineering at Poli-USP.

What is it? Smart home aimed at maintaining the autonomy and independence of the elderly.

Why does it matter? With an increasingly elderly world population, this work is concerned with using technology to provide health and well-being of these people, reducing the need for help from third parties.

What are the results? Two days were covered: one focused on TV, representing entertainment; and one focused on medicine, representing health. For an intuitive user interface, an application and a smart speaker were created.
