🎉 LeafBase is now BysonDB

This release is a full rebrand — LeafBase has been renamed to BysonDB. Same free, open-source MongoDB GUI, same features, same data format. Only the name changed.

🔗 The project now lives at https://github.com/vutranHS/byson. The old leafbase repository has been archived.

⚠️ Existing LeafBase users — please read

Because the app's identity changed, BysonDB is treated as a brand-new application:

  1. No auto-update from LeafBase. Your old LeafBase install will not update to BysonDB automatically — download BysonDB manually once from the assets below. From v1.1.5
    onward, BysonDB auto-updates normally.
  2. Your old data stays with the old app (saved connections, query history, and settings are not carried over automatically).

🧳 Migrating your data

Simplest path: just re-add your connections in BysonDB. To keep your saved query tabs:

  1. Open old LeafBase → Workspaces → Export (saves a *_workspace_*.json file).
  2. Open BysonDB → Workspaces → Import that file.

Old data folder (safe to delete after you've moved over):

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/leafbase
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\leafbase
  • Linux: ~/.config/leafbase
