@vvintt vvintt released this 12 Jul 15:04

First public beta of FA Series Editor, an unofficial Windows VST3/Standalone editor and 16-Part MIDI bridge for Roland FA-06, FA-07 and FA-08.

Highlights

  • One plug-in instance per MIDI track with selectable FA Part 01–16.
  • Automatic routing to each Part's verified MIDI Receive Channel.
  • Shared multi-instance FA session inside one DAW process.
  • Level, Pan, Cutoff, Resonance, Attack, Release, Mute and Reverb Send controls.
  • Studio Reverb control.
  • Verified Pull, Push and tone-selection SysEx operations.
  • Numeric 2,438-entry tone-address catalog with optional local CSV names.
  • Protocol, routing, multi-client and real-hardware read-only tests.

Compatibility

  • Windows 10/11 x64.
  • VST3 hosts; tested primarily with Ableton Live.
  • Roland FA-06, FA-07 and FA-08.
  • Audio must be returned separately through USB Audio or an audio interface.

Known limitations

  • Early beta and unsigned Windows binaries.
  • No macOS or Linux build.
  • Shared sessions require instances in the same host process.
  • Before Pull, routing assumes Part N -> Channel N.
  • Duplicate Receive Channels can cause multiple Parts to sound.
  • Part Switch is reported but not enabled automatically.
  • No User Memory write.
  • No complete Tone, MFX, PCM or SuperNATURAL editor yet.
  • Proprietary Roland tone names are not bundled.

Installation

  1. Download FA-Series-Editor-v0.3.0-beta.1-Windows-x64.zip.
  2. Verify its SHA-256 value against SHA256SUMS.txt.
  3. Extract and copy the complete FA Editor.vst3 directory to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3.
  4. Restart Ableton Live or rescan VST3 plug-ins.

The Standalone application is included in the Standalone directory.

Important beta warning

This is unsigned beta software. Back up important Studio Sets and use Pull from FA before Push to FA or Live Write. The plug-in changes only the Temporary Studio Set and does not produce audio.

This independent project is unofficial and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or supported by Roland Corporation.
