Required upgrade for all mainnet validators and nodes. New consensus rules activate at block 24630300 (about Monday 12 October 2026, ~09:30 UTC).

  • Security fixes from several independent audits: remote crash and stall bugs in p2p, JSON-RPC and WebSocket handling; stricter validation of consensus messages.
  • Compact round-change messages (wchainv111): consensus messages are much smaller, so the chain recovers from failed rounds without halting.
  • A validator that falls behind at an epoch boundary now catches up by itself instead of freezing until restarted.
  • go-ibft w-chain/go-ibft v0.4.1-wchain.5.

Upgrade: replace BOTH the binary and genesis.json from this release, then restart once. The new genesis.json only adds wchainv108–wchainv111 at block 24630300; keys, config, chaindata and the genesis hash are unchanged. Upgrade one validator at a time.

  • Until block 24630300, v1.0.8 behaves exactly like v1.0.7.
  • A v1.0.7 binary refuses the new genesis.json ("fork is not available").
  • After block 24630300, never go back to v1.0.7.
