Safari Desktop: When aborting a soft-keyboard-driven IME, the new selection is not set

However, when you abort a dead-key-driven IME, it works. E.g. pressing ^ and then clicking somewhere else, it works fine.

Seems to be a general issue when using Safari and composition via the virtual keyboard, I guess related to window focus management on OSX. This problem does not exist in Chrome and Firefox though.
