Discuss adding a method like browser.runtime.supports(), similar to CSS.supports(), so extensions can check whether an API is supported. It could also cover related checks, such as which declarativeNetRequest rule features are supported.

The current draft of the WebMCP specification allows websites to register tools that an agent can discover and invoke. Extensions are currently one of the main ways third party developers bring agentic features into browsers, and WebMCP could provide a structured, site-sanctioned alternative to scraping the DOM or driving the page through debugging interfaces.
The session will collect requirements from extension developers and browser vendors and check them against WebMCP's current design:
- Consuming site tools: should extensions be able to enumerate and invoke a page's tools without injecting a content script?
- Providing tools: should extensions be able to expose their own tools to the browser's agent or to websites?
- Permissions and trust: what permissions should gate access to WebMCP tools, and how are users informed?
- Lifecycle: how do event-driven background contexts interact with tool registration, discovery and long-running invocations?
- Gaps: what other use cases should be considered before stabilizing the API design?
Goal: a shared list of extension use cases and requirements for WebMCP. For each item, identify whether it belongs in the WebMCP specification, the WebExtensions specification, or both, and identify owners for follow-up issues.
