Small release of Nu11Signal, a terminal-native music player for Apple Music and local files.

Changes

• Cleaner stop for local files: quitting or closing playback now always finishes its fade on silence before releasing the audio output, so the last fraction of a second can no longer be cut off with a faint click.
• The update check's cache no longer stores a timestamp it never used (older cache files still load).
• Release tooling: Linux binaries are verified by an exact version marker, and the Homebrew bump script gives clearer errors.

Nu11Signal gets a new main theme.

Changes

• BLUESHIFT is the new default theme (the former BLUE: electric blue, cyan and violet). It comes first in SETTINGS (s) and is what nu11signal starts with when no theme is saved.
• A config.json that says "BLUE" keeps working and switches to BLUESHIFT; REDSHIFT (formerly NIGHT CITY), MATRIX, ROSE and NEON ROSE are still there.

• Wording: nu11signal now describes itself as a neon terminal radio (README, docs, Homebrew descriptions).

• Update notice on every launch: nu11signal now asks GitHub for the latest release each time it opens (it used to reuse an answer for up to 24 hours, so a fresh release could go unnoticed). Without network it falls back to the last answer it saved.
• The UPDATE vX AVAILABLE notice is drawn in the color of the transport buttons, on the status line and in SETTINGS.

• nu11signal --version always prints the version, even when the logo cannot host it.

• New logo: the boot and shutdown splashes, the idle visualizer and --version draw the new logo in Braille: the masked head with headphones and LED eyes, NU11SIGNAL, and five slanted bars, colored like the theme's logo. Where the full logo does not fit, the head shows alone.
• ROSE and NEON ROSE themes join NIGHT CITY, BLUE and MATRIX in SETTINGS (s).
• Update notice: a Homebrew formula install (Linux, or macOS without --cask) now shows brew upgrade nu11signal instead of the cask command.
• Homebrew: the cask passes the current brew style, and the formula tells Linux users how to install the Kode Mono font.

Nu11Signal now plays your own music files, and runs on Linux.

Changes

• Local files: mp3, flac, ogg and wav from ~/Music (or the folders in "music_dirs" in config.json) play beside Apple Music under a LOCAL section. Folders and m3u files become playlists, and the rain follows the music's real spectrum.
• Linux: builds for x86_64 and ARM64. On Linux nu11signal plays local files only (Apple Music needs the macOS MusicKit helper). Audio goes through PulseAudio or PipeWire, with ALSA as a fallback. It needs glibc.
• nu11signal --local plays local files only on macOS too.
• The Homebrew tap now also has a formula, so brew install wahh-22/tap/nu11signal works on Linux.

Changes

• Update notice: on launch nu11signal checks GitHub for a newer release in the background (at most once a day; silent without network). When one exists, the status line shows UPDATE vX.Y.Z AVAILABLE // brew upgrade --cask nu11signal, and SETTINGS (s) shows it too.
• Turn it off with "update_check": false in config.json or NU11SIGNAL_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1.
• The cask uses the current Homebrew syntax for the macOS requirement (no more deprecation warning).

Feature release of Nu11Signal, a cyberpunk-style terminal radio for Apple Music on macOS.

Highlights

• New look: bracket HUD controls (volume on the same row when it fits), a <3 favorite mark, and a Braille null emblem on the boot and shutdown screens and in the player while nothing plays, with its own glitch and a dissolve into the rain.
• Themes: a SETTINGS overlay (s) with NIGHT CITY, BLUE and MATRIX, saved in config.json.
• Keys overlay: ? lists every shortcut; quitting now asks for confirmation.
• Rain visualizer: follows the music, including flat tracks (adaptive gain, live speed, beat pulse), and fills the whole area.
• Playback: library playlists with songs in your local library now queue every song (no more silent drops or a dead NEXT); NEXT on the last song wraps to the first; songs left out are reported; quitting while music plays no longer pops.
• HUD info: SPECTRUM LIVE/SIM/HOLD, UP NEXT, volume source and FX state.
• Font: the cask installs Kode Mono (font-kode-mono); set it as your terminal font for the intended look.
