IDAES Summit 2025
This landing page provides links to WaterTAP resources regarding flowsheet development and analysis, including detailed documentation, tutorials showcasing WaterTAP's capabilities, and a graphical user interface for simulating and visualizing flowsheet results.
WaterTAP has extensive documentation that contains a Getting Started page describing how to install and use WaterTAP, how-to guides teaching users how to use specific tools, tutorials describing how to utilize certain capabilities of WaterTAP to achieve an end-goal or result, technical references describing the background and methodology behind WaterTAP models.
WaterTAP tutorials are step-by-step guides on how to use WaterTAP's capabilities to achieve certain objectives, including creating custom models, setting up detailed flowsheets and analyses, and incorporating detailed chemistry.
The BSM2 tutorial is broken up into two parts. In the first half, you will learn how to build, initialize, and simulate the BSM2 flowsheet. In the latter half, you will learn how to include cost optimization as well as conduct sensitivity analyses over specific parameters.
The IDAES Flowsheet Processor is a graphical user interface (GUI) that provides a code-free way of simulating pre-loaded flowsheets, conducting simple sensitivity analyses, and comparing flowsheet runs with different conditions. The BSM2, dye desalination, Modular Encapsulated Two-Stage Anaerobic Bioreactor (METAB), and ElectroN-P flowsheets are all included in the GUI in addition to many others. For a full list of flowsheets supported in the GUI, see the entry points shown here.
