Dell U4025QW - In-Between Resolution?

Hi, I've got a Dell U4025QW hooked up via Thunderbolt to a MacBook Pro M4 Max 16". I find that the text is too small when in native mode (5120 x 2160). But the next step down (in both licensed BetterDisplay and the OS setting panel) the text and interface elements are too big (3840x1620). Is there a way to set a resolution somewhere in the middle of these two?

I guess this is more of an HiDPI question, having poked around. I've created some Custom scaled resolutions (e.g. 4480x1890) and they are all "Available as LoDPI". Is there a way to get a resolution between 5120x2160 and 3840x1620 that is still HiDPI?

Yes, but only by using virtual screen mirroring. You need to enable 8K+ resolutions under Settings/Displays/Overview/Additional settings, create a virtual screen matching the aspect ratio of your display and mirror it to your display - then adjust the resolution of the virtual screen. Please note that this is a workaround, might cause some issues (with sleep and mouse cursor). Make sure you run the latest macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta version (which better supports 8K+ resolutions because the Vision Pro's new Ultrawide display feature), otherwise some Catalyst apps will crash on 8K+ desktops.

@waydabber I will appreciate the help on this, how do I get the 120Hz when using Virtual Display?

I've the same monitor with both Macbook Air and Macbook Pro. I was puzzled why I can't see Hidpi resolutions like my other Macbook Pro on my Macbook Air.

You can configure 120Hz for a virtual screen (by enabling "Custom refresh rate list" under the virtual screen's "Additional resolution settings…" block), but it might not work properly in practice, so I recommend keeping the refresh rate at 60Hz.
