Main updates
- New: bring your own AI API key (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) as an alternative to running Ollama locally. Encrypted on your device, off by default, switch anytime in Settings > AI
- Redesigned AI setup: onboarding now lets you choose between local Ollama or your own API key upfront, with a smart "set up Ollama" flow available anytime later from Settings
- AI buttons now grey out with an explanatory tooltip when no AI provider is configured yet, instead of silently doing nothing
- Slides AI generation can now use Lucide icons, more varied slide layouts, and optional Pexels stock photos (with automatic photographer credit) instead of only simple illustrations
- Onboarding polish: theme now follows your system's light/dark preference on first launch, plus a redesigned light/dark toggle during setup
To install this version of Prose, download Prose-Setup-0.1.2.exe and run it. If you already have a previous version, go to Settings > About > 'Check for updates' to download the latest release.
Note: this build is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run. To fix this, click 'More info' > 'Run anyway'. A VirusTotal scan of this release's installer is linked in the README.
