Clicking Palimpsest — Git Workbench in VS Code's Activity Bar now opens the workbench directly. This release also fixes blurry large-screen rendering and overlapping buildings when navigating history.

  • Restore native-DPR detail after pan, zoom, or timeline interaction; use compact previews during gestures.
  • Bound display, scene, and preview RGBA storage to 128 MiB, releasing old caches before allocating replacements. Browser and GPU overhead are additional.
  • Use deterministic, collision-free snapshot layouts. Overview, Inspect, and file selection keep the same building positions; returning to a commit restores the same layout.
  • Apply the shared rendering fixes to the separate full Linux history website.

Validation: 95 automated tests passed; 29 real Linux Canvas layout scenarios had no collisions, out-of-bounds buildings, overlapping districts, or depth-order inversions. Both 3952×2242/DPR1 and 1976×1121/DPR2 restored a 3952×2242 static backing store. Gesture painting p95 was 0.3 ms in the Retina test, with no tasks over 50 ms. The largest observed RGBA pixel allocation was 111.96 MiB. These are local measurements, not guarantees for every device.

Installed and verified in local VS Code: one Activity Bar click opened the repository workbench. The full 1,482,108-commit Linux site passed desktop, narrow-layout, and timeline request checks.

Install the attached VSIX with Extensions: Install from VSIX…. Existing working changes, staging, commit, branch, remote, and separate-window features remain available.
