Desktop Icon Grid Replacer - Replace your desktop shortcut icons with high-quality grid artwork from SteamGridDB.

Quick Start (Windows)

1. Download both files:

   • ICON.exe (standalone executable)
   • ICON_Launcher.bat (interactive menu launcher)

2. Double-click ICON_Launcher.bat to launch the menu

3. Choose option 1 to run setup and enter your SteamGridDB API key

   • Get free API key: https://www.steamgriddb.com/profile/preferences/api

4. Use the menu to replace icons, restore backups, or customize

Why does the .exe close when I double-click it?

ICON is a command-line tool. When you double-click ICON.exe without arguments, it runs and exits immediately.

Solution: Use ICON_Launcher.bat for the interactive menu, or run from Command Prompt:

ICON.exe --help
ICON.exe --setup
ICON.exe --list

Python Users

If you have Python 3.8+, you can install from source:

git clone https://github.com/wesellis/APP-ICON-Desktop-Icon-Grid-Replacer.git
cd APP-ICON-Desktop-Icon-Grid-Replacer
pip install -e .
python icon_replacer.py
