Omastorm 0.1.21
This release fixes the location picker. Its search field no longer stays editable after you close it, and pasting into it is now size-limited and times out if the clipboard hangs. A failed or oversized paste shows an error and leaves your search alone. The radar engine stays at 0.1.13.

Omastorm 0.1.20
This release adds the NOAA MRMS mosaic, one radar image of the contiguous U.S. built from every NEXRAD station. Press Shift+N in the radar window to switch to it, and press it again to go back to the nearest station. The radar engine updates to 0.1.13. Thanks to @scottjones for this feature.

Engine 0.1.13
This release adds NOAA's MRMS QC base reflectivity mosaic for the contiguous U.S. (mrms-conus). It merges every NEXRAD radar into one image and keeps up to an hour of history. Nothing selects it automatically; the UI will offer it with Shift+N once the plugin pins this engine. OPERA uses the same reworked mosaic pipeline, which now drops late results after a source switch and handles live and backfilled frames the same way. Thanks to @scottjones for the MRMS work.
This release uses protocol v2 and is compatible with the current UI. Native Linux downloads are attached for x86_64 and ARM64, with checksums and build metadata. Existing installations receive it when the app's verified engine pin is updated.

Omastorm 0.1.19
This release updates the radar engine to 0.1.12, a maintenance release. The popover now refreshes METAR chips just after the hour, as the main window does, and the location picker no longer opens twice from the panel. Unused UI code is removed.

Engine 0.1.12
This is a maintenance release with no user-facing changes. An empty TIFF tag in a European radar download now returns a decode error instead of panicking. The rest is internal cleanup: METAR feeds and station info share one cache, downloads share one size-capped reader, and the live poller's timeout handling is simpler.
This release uses protocol v2 and is compatible with the current UI. Native Linux downloads are attached for x86_64 and ARM64, with checksums and build metadata. Existing installations receive it when the app's verified engine pin is updated.
What's Changed
Other changes
- refactor(engine): merge duplicated METAR cache and HTTP body helpers by @wesleygrimes in #154
- refactor(engine): reject empty TIFF scalar tags, collapse live timeouts by @wesleygrimes in #156
- refactor(engine): share mosaic history trim and live frame lookup by @wesleygrimes in #158
- chore(engine): bump to 0.1.12 by @wesleygrimes in #159

Omastorm 0.1.17
This release fixes a security issue in how Omastorm displays text from external sources. Map labels, METAR text, station names, and error messages now render as plain text, so a crafted OpenStreetMap place name can no longer inject formatting or load a remote image. Thanks to HANCORE-linux for reporting it. Updating is recommended.

Omastorm 0.1.16 — Playback, themes, and airport pins
Loop the scans you choose, switch Omarchy themes without restarting, and see airport conditions as map pins by default.
Playback from your selected scan
Select an earlier completed scan and press Space or Play. Playback starts there, runs through the newest completed scan, and returns to your selection on every loop. Selecting the newest scan or a sweep still arriving plays the full history; Home, then Play, does too. Pause and play again to start a new loop from your current selection.
Thanks to @Yani3rt for bringing this behavior to both the window and popover in #80—their first contribution to Omastorm.
Theme switches keep working
The window now follows every Omarchy theme switch and continues picking up edits to the active theme's colors. Previously, the first switch could leave it on fallback colors until a restart.
Thanks to @Noah-Brown for the fix and regression coverage in #95—also their first contribution. Welcome to both new contributors!
Airport pins by default
Aviation mode now uses category-colored airport pins when no mark style is configured. Existing chip and ink settings still work. Press a to toggle aviation mode.
Thanks to returning contributor @fearjet44 for #116.
Other changes
Contributor credits, contribution and release documentation, focused verification tools, CI check selection, and capture cleanup have also been improved.
Update
omarchy plugin update com.omastorm.radar
omarchy restart shellThe matching engine (engine-0.1.11, x86_64 and ARM64) installs automatically.
Engine 0.1.11 — Selected-scan playback
Playback now loops from your selected completed scan through the newest completed scan. Press Space or Play to start there; each pass returns to that scan. Selecting the newest scan or a sweep still arriving plays the full history, as does Home then Play. Pausing and playing again uses the current selection as the new starting point.
The engine remembers the selected scan as new scans arrive and older scans are backfilled. If that scan leaves the two-hour history, playback falls back to the oldest available scan.
Thanks to @Yani3rt for their first contribution to Omastorm in #80.
This release uses protocol v2 and is compatible with the current UI. Native Linux downloads are attached for x86_64 and ARM64, with checksums and build metadata. Existing installations receive it when the app's verified engine pin is updated.
Omastorm 0.1.15 — Aviation Mode
Airport weather meets live radar. Aviation mode brings nearby airport observations onto your Omastorm map, so you can see reported conditions alongside the rain and storms moving through the area.
Airport conditions at a glance
Press a in the radar window or bar popover to turn aviation mode on. Airport codes replace city labels, with colors showing each airport’s reported flight category:
- Green: VFR
- Blue: MVFR
- Red: IFR
- Magenta: LIFR
Click an airport code to open its raw METAR—the airport’s weather observation—right on the map.
Keep your airports in view
Show up to 16 airports, choose nearby stations or prioritize major airports, and give your home field a place whenever it’s in view and has a current report. Choose filled labels, colored letters, or colored map pins to suit your display.
Aviation mode is off by default. Press a to explore it, or enable it at startup in your configuration:
[metar]
show = trueAirport observations cover the U.S. and Canada while using live NEXRAD radar. The European OPERA mosaic does not support this overlay. Reports come from NOAA/NWS Aviation Weather Center and show current observations, not forecasts or flight guidance.
Thank you, Justin
Huge thanks to Justin Hagemeier (@fearjet44), also @flyawayzephyr60 on Twitter, for bringing aviation mode to Omastorm—from the airport weather support to the map overlay and controls—in #102 and #111. These are Justin’s first contributions to Omastorm. Welcome aboard!
