Matte LTX Native 0.8 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Changes since the previous release:

  • The node refreshes itself. Flame only re-renders an OFX node when a parameter changes, so until now the viewer kept showing the pass-through until you pressed Refresh Status. A small Flame Python hook (aifx_autorefresh.py, installed by the kit into /opt/Autodesk/shared/python/aifx_context) now notices when the engine has finished and nudges the node, so the stored matte appears in the viewer on its own. Restart Flame once after installing.
  • Fixed: Delete Result → Analyze could do nothing. The new run re-used the deleted folder's name and the engine still had a cancel on file for it, so it was cancelled the moment it started.

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click the "Install … .command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame. Updating: run the installer again; setups and stored analyses carry over.

Upscale Native 0.3 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Lens Blur Native 0.8 (tester build)

@whiggs14 whiggs14 released this 15 Oct 13:20
603e1e1

Lens Blur Native 0.8 - Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux kits.

  • Focus lines are now 5 px wide, with a Focus Line Width control (Preview group, 0 = off) so they stay visible on a UHD frame viewed fit-to-window. Green = Focal Distance, yellow = edges of the Depth Of Field band (Show > Depth / Focus Overlay).
  • Inputs shorter than the plate are held: a one-frame Z (or Back / Back Z / Iris image) is used on every frame instead of dropping out after its last frame.
  • Show > Depth with nothing on Input3 shows the flat depth instead of the iris kernel.

Install: unzip, then Mac: double-click "Install Lens Blur Native.command"; Linux: bash install.sh. Restart Flame.

Lens Blur Native 0.7 (tester build)

Lens Blur Native 0.7 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Changes since 0.6:

  • Front Matte > "Blur Mask – matte defocuses with the FG", now the default: the matte is defocused along with the picture, so the blur spreads past the matte edge the way the element's own edge would, instead of being cut hard by it. The plain Blur Mask keeps the hard cut.
  • Blur Mask modes comp over the Background when one is connected: the matted element is defocused premultiplied (blurred colour + Back × (1 − blurred matte)), so a keyed element can be defocused over a background with no Z and the sharp plate never shows through the soft edge.

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click the "Install … .command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame.

Lens Blur Native 0.6 (tester build)

Lens Blur Native 0.6 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Changes since 0.5:

  • Front Matte (page 3) says what the Front's matte socket means. Default is Blur Mask, the usual Flame matte: the defocus is applied where the matte is white and the plate comes back untouched where it is black. The FG Alpha modes use the matte as the foreground's alpha for the comp over the Background (white = the subject, held sharp on the focus plane or following its Z). Ignore does nothing with it.
  • Mode > From Front Matte: no Z needed — the Front's matte is the blur amount (white = full Radius, black = sharp, greys in between). Paint a ramp for a tilt-shift, or feed a luma / distance matte.

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click the "Install … .command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame.

Lens Blur Native 0.5 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Changes since 0.4:

  • Front + matte + Background now does what you expect. The matted subject stays sharp and the background defocuses at Radius (Back Depth), with or without a Z Depth. In 0.4 a Front without a Z was treated as "far", so everything blurred.
  • Matte Holds Front in Focus (page 3, on by default): with a matte on the Front, the subject sits on the focus plane whatever the Z says, and only what is outside the matte / the Background defocuses. Switch it off to let the Front follow its Z everywhere (the matte is then just the comp coverage).

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click the "Install … .command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame.

Lens Blur Native 0.4 (tester build)

@whiggs14 whiggs14 released this 15 Oct 07:59
875d91e

Lens Blur Native 0.4 — first public build. Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Depth-of-field / lens defocus with real bokeh, pure C++ inside Flame (FFT convolution on all cores, no engine, nothing to download). Feed it a Z depth from Depth Native or any depth pass.

  • Layered defocus from Z. The image is split into depth layers by circle of confusion, each convolved with the iris at its own radius and accumulated near to far, so out-of-focus foreground spills over the background and sharp foreground occludes what is behind it. Highlights are boosted before the blur so point lights bloom into iris-shaped discs.
  • Iris. Blades, rounding, angle, anamorphic aspect, soft edge, bright rim (soap bubble), centre darkening (mirror lens), or your own image of the aperture. Presets for the common looks; Star and Heart shapes.
  • Chroma Warp. Longitudinal (red / blue defocus by different radii) and lateral (radial fringing from a centre, optionally only where defocused).
  • Focus. Focal Distance (animate it to rack focus), Pick Focal Distance from a point in the viewer, depth-of-field band, depth curve; Show > Depth draws a green line where the focal plane cuts the scene and yellow lines at the edges of the sharp band.
  • Comp. Front + matte at its Z over a Background at its own Z (or a flat Back Depth), defocused together as one scene, with a Background Distortion control for how much the foreground blur bleeds. Alpha out = the defocused matte.
  • Uniform mode for the whole-frame out-of-focus look; Fast Preview at half resolution while setting up.

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click the "Install … .command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame. The Read Me inside the zip documents every control and a starting point.

Depth Native 0.1 (tester build)

@whiggs14 whiggs14 released this 15 Oct 15:09
f11600e

Depth Native 0.1 - first tester build. Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, NVIDIA) kits.

Depth maps for Flame with Depth Anything 3 Large (default, best edges, overlapping-window video processing), Depth Anything 3 Metric (depth in metres, optional download) and Video Depth Anything Small (fast / Preview). Press Analyze once; the depth is stored with the node and renders instantly, with live Auto Range / Near / Far / Gamma / Invert. Flow-guided Stabilize removes window shimmer. Built to feed Lens Blur Native's Input3.

All models are Apache-2.0 (no Hugging Face account needed).

Install: unzip, then Mac: double-click "Install Depth Native.command"; Linux: bash install.sh. Shares the engine folder with Matte LTX Native / Upscale Native if present. Restart Flame.

Matte LTX Native 0.7 (tester build)

@whiggs14 whiggs14 released this 15 Oct 00:19
4304fa4

Matte LTX Native 0.7 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Changes since the previous release:

  • Faster everywhere. The render runs on all cores (it was single-threaded) and the stored results — the PIZ EXRs the engine writes — now decode on all cores too. Same picture; scrubbing a 4K result is several times quicker, the first frame after a jump most of all.

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click the "Install … .command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame. Updating: run the installer again; setups and stored analyses carry over.

Matte LTX Native 0.6 (tester build)

@whiggs14 whiggs14 released this 14 Oct 21:00
17ef916

Matte LTX Native 0.6 — Mac (Apple Silicon) and Linux (Rocky 8.10 / 9.x, Flame 2027).

Changes since 0.5:

  • Selection box vs viewer navigation: panning or zooming the viewer (Space + drag, Space + Ctrl + drag, any modifier held) no longer draws or moves the box. The pen is left to Flame while a modifier is down, a gesture is dropped if the viewer zooms under it, and a plain click outside the box draws nothing until the drag is bigger than a click.
  • Subject Selection labels: the Track Stored field reads "(no track – press Track Box)" until a track exists, and the Refine text field has a caption row above it ("Text selection – type what to keep:") — Flame draws text fields without labels, so the two used to look alike.
  • Engine: a job removed from the queue is marked cancelled at once instead of staying "queued" until its turn.

Install: unzip, run the installer (Mac: double-click "Install Matte LTX Native.command"; Linux: bash install.sh), restart Flame. Updating from 0.5: run the installer again; setups and stored analyses carry over.
