What changed since v0.1.3
- The app can update itself — when you ask. Settings → About → Check for updates, then Download and install: the download is verified against a signature, and the app restarts on the new version. Nothing is checked or downloaded in the background. If terminal sessions are running you are asked first, and their tabs come back after the restart. On Windows, an agent running in an external terminal keeps the hub open, so the app waits for you to close it rather than starting an install that would fail halfway. The portable zip never installs anything; it sends you to the download page instead.
- Coming from 0.1.x, install 0.2.0 once by hand — earlier versions have no update button. From here on, the button is there.
- This is also the first release not marked pre-release, so it is what GitHub's "latest" points at.
- Project info can be changed after creation. Project settings → Project info: domain, description, goals and boundaries. Each save leaves a line in the ledger, and the next agent sees the new version in its handoff. The name is not editable yet — it has copies in places that each need their own answer first.
- Tool grants travel with backups, as a question. A backup now records which hub tools you had authorised. Restoring it does not switch them on: the Tools page shows what the backup had and lets you restore them with one press, or decline. Narrowing applies on its own — a backup taken with the agent switch off restores with it off.
- More skills, and a pack for software projects. Every new workspace gets two more general skills:
/slice-work(turn a settled scope into tasks with dependencies) and/retrospect(turn the friction the ledger recorded into one change each)./align-scopenow asks in rounds. A project on the Software Development template also gets a coding pack —/test-first,/debug-loop,/two-axis-review,/ship-notes,/work-the-frontier— and that template's phases call them at the right moments. Several are adapted from mattpocock/skills (MIT) and rewired to the engine. Existing coding projects pick the pack up from the Tools page's upgrade panel. - "Next steps" knows what can start. The handoff marks tasks still waiting on a dependency or already assigned to someone, and
list_tasks { ready: true }returns only what can start now. - Smaller things. The workspace health check now says so when
.mcp.jsonpoints at a hub that does not exist on this machine (the project was last opened on another one). Team tools that are handed a project name where they need a workspace id say which id they meant. And a release is now published only once all three platforms have passed their tests and built — a red test anywhere means no release, rather than one missing a platform.
Unsigned build: no publisher certificate and no notarization. Windows and macOS both stop the first launch — SmartScreen needs "More info" then "Run anyway"; macOS needs System Settings → Privacy & Security → "Open Anyway". https://white1024.github.io/agent-nextup/reference/building/#unsigned-builds has both click paths and the Linux notes. Once installed, later versions can be installed from Settings → About → Check for updates. Windows also gets a portable zip that needs no installer at all; it does not update itself.
