Release list
PJDesk 0.6.5
PJDesk 0.6.4
A permanent password now connects with no Allow prompt. A wrong password says so and asks again. Logins lock for about 20 minutes after 5 wrong tries from one place (or 20 across all). Adds Check for updates now (client Settings, About and tray menu), and the server's Update all online computers now updates clients too.
PJDesk 0.6.3
Test release. Signing in on a client saves that computer to your account. New 'Sign me out when I'm done' sign-in (on by default) for other people's computers, plus 'Just add this computer to my account'. The server window manages the service without admin after updates. Only install, uninstall and stop ask for Windows approval.
PJDesk 0.6.2
Test release. New Connect layout (connect panel on the left, Saved / Recent / On this network list on the right), account-synced Saved computers (local-only when signed out), computer names and last signed-in user, password prompt after Connect, fixed Remote ID typing, drag-and-drop file transfer in sessions, installer 'Name this computer' page, sign-in kept across updates, legacy in-app account screens removed (manage your account at pjdesk.com).
PJDesk 0.6.1
Test release. Grace mode is the default again, the server stays active with no slot fighting, the server watches for public IP changes, a hostname public address is kept, clients prefer LAN paths, and the client installer is renamed PJDesk-Client-Setup (PJDesk-Setup is kept for older updaters).
PJDesk 0.5.2
PJDesk 0.5.2
This release makes it easier to see what version everything is running, adds a Saved computers list, and makes working with multi-monitor computers a lot smoother. It works with 0.5.1, so you can update computers in any order.
See versions at a glance
- pjdesk.com admin page: the new Servers & devices page lists each PJDesk Server with its name, version, role (primary or standby), account, and last report. Servers behind the current release get an outdated badge.
- PJDesk Server window: the Devices list has a new Version column showing which PJDesk version each computer is running. Computers on a version older than 0.5.2 show
unknown (<0.5.2). Computers that are behind the latest release get an update available badge next to the Update button. - The server's own version is shown on its service card, and with Cloud Sync you can also see the other server's name, version, and role.
Desktop client versions are shown in the PJDesk Server window rather than on pjdesk.com, because the cloud copy of your server data stays sealed.
Admin: plans and a new Overview
- Admins can now grant a plan, Free or Cloud Sync, to any account from the admin page, with an optional expiry date and a note. Each change is recorded in the audit log (who made it, when, and the old and new plan). Once a Cloud Sync grant expires, the account goes back to Free.
- The admin Overview has been redesigned as a dashboard with real numbers: accounts, servers, devices, and audit entries. It also has a Servers panel, recent activity, a Free vs. Cloud Sync breakdown, and quick links to Grant plan and Accounts. It works in both light and dark themes.
New: Saved computers
- A new Saved computers tab lists every computer you've connected to.
- Each computer shows an operating system icon, its name, and its ID, with a button to copy the ID.
- Search by name, ID (spaces don't matter), or operating system. Press Enter to connect to the first match. You can sort the list and filter it to favorites.
- One-click Connect on every row, plus a menu to rename, transfer a file, favorite, forget the saved password, or remove the computer.
- Save the password the first time you log in: the password prompt for a new computer has a Remember password box and a Show/Hide toggle. The password is saved only after the other computer accepts it, and it is protected with Windows DPAPI for your Windows user account. If a saved password stops working, PJDesk clears it and asks you again. Remember password is off by default; you can turn it on in Settings.
Multi-monitor
You can now switch between remote screens without reconnecting.
- Screen tabs across the top: when the remote computer has more than one display, a tab strip at the top of the session window shows
Screen 1,Screen 2, … and All screens. Click a tab to switch right away. Hover over a tab to see that screen's resolution. The strip is hidden when the remote computer has only one display, and it never covers the remote picture. - All screens shows the whole remote desktop at once, and the mouse moves smoothly from one screen to the next.
- Separate windows (the button at the end of the tab strip) opens one window per remote screen, titled like
Office PC — Screen 2. Drag each window to any of your monitors. Each window has its own fullscreen (a button or F11) on the monitor it's on. Closing a screen's window stops that screen and keeps the session going. Closing the last window ends the session. - Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+Alt+1 through 9 switches to that screen (in Separate windows mode it brings that screen's window to the front). Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right moves to the previous or next screen.
- PJDesk remembers your last view, screen, and window positions for each saved computer.
- When a remote computer adds, removes, or resizes a display, PJDesk picks up the change. If a display is unplugged, its window closes and you get a short notice.
Compatibility
- The protocol is still version 3, so 0.5.2 is fully compatible with 0.5.1. Older hosts still work. They just show a single screen and an unknown OS icon until they're updated.

PJDesk v0.5.1
PJDesk 0.5.1 includes everything from 0.5.0 plus:
- Clients and servers stay online through auto-updates: the installer restarts the service and reopens PJDesk or the tray in the signed-in user's session.
- The server window shows live status (key fingerprint, update setting, last check, Cloud Sync role and account) even without admin rights. Sections it can't read say Locked instead of showing blank defaults.
- The server window gets the same refreshed look as the client.
- Fix: an unreadable update settings file can no longer turn auto-update off.

PJDesk v0.5.0
PJDesk 0.5.0 includes everything from 0.4.1 plus:
- Redesigned client window: a cleaner layout for connecting, settings and session controls.
- Settings no longer lag on click: schtasks and Windows service queries now run off the UI thread.
- Light and dark themes.
- Floating session toolbar that stays out of the way of the remote screen.
From 0.4.1:
- Cloud Sync help text now explains how backup servers work (promote and standby).
- The installer reads its version from Cargo.toml.
- Compiler warning cleanup.

PJDesk 0.4.0
PJDesk 0.4.0 includes the 0.3.7 security fixes (see SECURITY-AUDIT.md) plus:
- New session toolbar (View, Keys, Session, Files, Chat, End): file transfer both ways with resume, clipboard text and images, chat, audio, monitor picker, quality, privacy screen, block input, remote restart, TCP tunnels, direct IP, LAN discovery, and session recording. Both sides need 0.4.0 for these; 0.3.x peers still get keyboard and mouse.
- PJDesk Server tray icon (starts at Windows sign-in) with service controls, updates, Cloud Sync and the log folder.
- Cloud Sync: "Make this the primary" / "Step down to standby" (
pjdesk-server cloud promote/demote), with fencing so two servers never both write. - Optional server auto-update (off by default), SHA256-verified, standby first.
- Stronger password rules for new server and pjdesk.com account passwords; older weak passwords prompt for a change.

PJDesk 0.3.6
PJDesk accounts: PJDesk Server can now sign in with a PJDesk account for Cloud Sync and a backup server. No bucket to set up.

What's new
- Sign in with a PJDesk account. The Cloud Sync section of the server window has a new "PJDesk account" sign-in (also
pjdesk-server cloud signin | signout). Create an account at https://pjdesk.com/account/. - Automatic roles. The first server you sign in uploads; a server with no computers connected joins as the backup; a server that's already in use asks before doing anything.
- Private by design. Your password never leaves your browser or server. It derives a sign-in key (stored only as a salted hash) and a separate sync key that seals the server copy and never leaves your servers.
- pjdesk.com. New website with account pages (sign up, sign in, change password), and download links that always point to the latest release.
- Own bucket still works. Your own Cloudflare R2 / S3 bucket stays available as an advanced option, and 0.3.5 Cloud Sync settings keep working.
