RokuPyRemote v0.1.0 - Initial Release

Note: Only tested on a TCL 43S517 Roku TV. Should work with any Roku device supporting the External Control Protocol.

Features

  • Remote Control -- D-pad, media transport, volume, power, input switching, and app shortcuts (Netflix, YouTube, Prime, Disney+)
  • Keyboard Shortcuts -- Control your TV with keyboard keys; disabled while typing in the IP field
  • Customizable Key Bindings -- Remap any button, remove bindings, or assign keys to additional buttons via the built-in settings page
  • Pin to Top -- Keep the remote floating above other windows
  • System Tray -- Minimize to tray instead of closing; restore with a click
  • Adjustable Font Size -- Scale the UI from the settings dialog, applied instantly
  • Persistent Config -- IP address, key bindings, and settings saved to ~/.roku_remote_config.json
  • Standalone EXE -- Download roku_remote.exe below and run it without Python installed

Setup

  1. Enable Network Access on your Roku: Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Control by mobile apps > set to Default or Permissive
  2. Run the app, enter your TV local IP, and click Connect
