πŸš€ Release v1.2 β€” 37 Visual Patterns, 147 Backgrounds, 120 Themes & Peaks, Modular Streaming & Studio Console Redesign

Release v1.2 represents a massive generational leap for the ESP32 Professional Audio Spectrum Visualizer. This release introduces 12 new visual engines, expands color themes and peak dots to 120 modes, introduces a universal 147-mode background engine, reorganizes the web interface into an adaptive Studio Console layout with live gradient ribbons, decouples client script streaming into a 5-stage pipeline, and implements atomic JSON configuration backups.

⚑ What's New in Release v1.2

1. 🎨 Visual Patterns Portfolio (Expanded from 25 to 37 Engines)

  • 12 New Harmonic, Orbital & Geometric Engines (Patterns 25 to 36):
    • Resonant Cymatic Kaleidoscopes (Pattern 27 & 36): Direction-reversing 8-fold mirrored Chladni resonance plates that twist, breathe, and rotate to audio transients with beat-reactive phase kicks.
    • Hypnotic Warp Tunnel & Orbital Tunnel (Patterns 28 & 35): Deep morphing super-elliptical tunnels (diamond $\to$ circle $\to$ square) with music-locked progression velocity and continuous circular orbital maneuvers across the panel.
    • Harmonograph Laser Ribbons (Pattern 29): 1 to 5 roaming Lissajous laser knots executing orbital figure-8 maneuvers with reversing spin and multi-theme coloration.
    • Liquid Silk Harmonic Waves (Pattern 30): Multi-layered fluid waves with soft-edged Gaussian body thickness that swell and additively blend color where ribbons cross.
    • Psychedelic Fluid Noise Mesh (Pattern 31): Calibrated 2D Perlin flow field with continuous coordinate panning, preventing blob blowout while maintaining razor-sharp tendrils.
    • Sacred Lotus Mandalas (Pattern 32): 1 to 5 multi-orbital mandalas reaching up to 50+ LEDs wide across the matrix with alternating rotation and multi-theme coloring.
    • Kaleidoscopic Resonant Vector Lines (Pattern 33): 1 to 5 roaming hubs launching straight laser vectors and vibrating perimeter web struts directly to frequency bins.
    • Orbital Liquid Silk Vortex (Pattern 34): Rotating fluid vortex with seamless two-way angular wrapping that waves and ripples directly to bass energy.
  • Expanded Kinetic Generators:
    • Sweeping Volcanic Cannons (Pattern 22): Expanded up to 18 calderas (3, 6, 9, 12, 18) and up to 160 ballistic magma embers with balanced Bass/Mid/Treble phase offsets.
    • Ballistic Popcorn Cannon (Pattern 13): Expanded to 80 gravity-simulated particles with logarithmic high-frequency boost math and 3 particle size options (Pinpoint 1Γ—1, Mixed Variety, Large Fluffy 2Γ—2).
    • Bioluminescent Floating Bubbles (Pattern 12): Expanded up to 40 reactive glowing orbs.
  • Intelligent Negative-Space & Dots-Only Protection:
    • Automatically routes to an active theme flow canvas if a negative-space silhouette (Patterns 20, 21, 23, 24) or dots-only pattern (Patterns 1, 2, 18, 19) is active while the background is set to pitch black, guaranteeing that the display is never left dark.

2. 🌈 120 Color Themes & 120 Peak Dot Colors (Exact 1:1 Parity)

  • 120 Color Themes (Expanded from 105 to 120):
    • Added Themes 105 through 118 featuring high-energy psychedelic palettes, dual-flow collision palettes, and natural atmospheric twilight gradients.
    • Theme 119 (Custom Tri-Zone): Fully customizable live palette driven by the user's staged Bass, Midrange, and Treble swatches.
  • 120 Peak Dot Colors (Expanded from 85 to 120):
    • Direct 1-to-1 parity with the 120 color themes.
    • Added metallic finishes (Platinum, Titanium, Rose Gold, Obsidian Pearl), neon duos, tri-zone chromatic splits, and fast stroboscopic sweeps.
  • Resolved Peak Dot Auto Match & Dynamic List Highlighting:
    • When in Auto Match mode (Mode 0), the system dynamically resolves the exact contrasting peak color for whichever theme is playing, displays that color on the live ribbon, updates the mode label, and automatically scrolls the dropdown to highlight the active applied color.
    • Added a dedicated βœ“ Match Theme: ON button that turns emerald green when Auto Match is active and reverts to neutral dark when a manual color is picked.
  • Interactive Color Wheel & Center Pure White Hub:
    • Enlarged the canvas to $160\text{px}$ on desktop and $140\text{px}$ on mobile with coordinate scaling for touch accuracy.
    • Transformed the center core into an illuminated, interactive WHITE touch hub. Tapping inside the center core immediately sets pure white across all display bars or onto an active staged Tri-Zone circle.

3. 🌌 Universal 147 Background Modes & Front-Panel Slider

  • 147 Total Background Canvases (Expanded from 23 to 147):
    • Mode 0: Pure Pitch Black (Clean Default).
    • Modes 1 to 26 (Curated Ambient Shaders): Added Liquid Prismatic Oil Slick, Hypnotic Archimedean Spiral, Underwater Caustic Shimmer, and Precision Vector Grid.
    • Modes 27 to 146 (Theme Canvases): Allows setting any of the 120 color themes as an independent flowing background canvas behind foreground visualizer bars.
  • Front-Panel Backdrop Brightness Slider:
    • Moved the Backdrop Brightness slider directly to the top of Column 3 on the main console for instant, single-touch access without opening drawers.
  • Auto-Background Pitch-Black Protection:
    • Added firmware safeguards in the main loop and show sequencer preventing Auto-Background from ever lingering on Mode 0 during auto-cycle playback.

4. 🌊 23 Flow Directions & Silicon TRNG Shuffle Engine

  • 23 Directional Flow Dynamics (Expanded from 18 to 23):
    • Added Archimedean vortex swirl, dual cross-collision, quad-wave ripple bloom, triple kinetic counter-beams, and sweeping ceiling spotlights.
  • Silicon TRNG Fisher-Yates Shuffle Decks:
    • Powered by the ESP32's native true random hardware entropy (esp_random()).
    • Features anti-clash swap protection ensuring that no pattern, theme, background, or flow direction ever repeats twice in a row.

5. πŸ–₯️ Studio Console UI & Dual Desktop/Mobile Operating Modes

  • True Desktop PC Mode $\leftrightarrow$ Mobile Phone View Emulation:
    • πŸ–₯️ PC Mode (Desktop): All 3 performance columns displayed side-by-side across wide computer monitors with the bottom dock hidden.
    • πŸ“± Phone View Mode: Simulates a mobile smartphone interface on a PC monitor, rendering a single centered column ($480\text{px}$ wide) with an illuminated bottom navigation dock for rapid tab switching. Selection is saved in browser storage.
  • Screen-Locked Desktop Grid:
    • All 3 desktop columns dynamically stretch to fit 100% of the screen height, terminating at the exact same bottom boundary pixel line with zero outer page scrolling.
    • Mobile viewports are locked to height: 100dvh with exact $66\text{px}$ clearance above the bottom dock, preventing mobile page bounce.
  • Dynamic Live Gradient Ribbons (Approach A):
    • Added real-time CSS multi-stop gradient preview ribbons directly above Color Themes (#themeGradientRibbon), Background Modes (#bgGradientRibbon), and Peak Dot Colors (#peakGradientRibbon).
  • Centered Navigation Ribbon & Non-Squashable Power Button:
    • Centered the top navigation cluster (Power, Sleep, Equalizer, Show, Calib, Config, Info, PC Mode) across the top bar via a balanced 3-column CSS Grid.
    • Applied rigid geometry to the power button (50px x 50px !important), making it impossible for browser engines to distort it into an oval.
    • Extended the desktop brightness slider to $300\text{px}$ for granular luminance tuning.
  • Streamlined Column Drawers:
    • Secondary controls tucked into 3 clean drawer modals: modalThemeControls (flow speeds, directions, angles), modalEffectControls (kinetic parameters, procedural speeds, matrix spoke densities), and modalAcousticControls (gain, noise gate, bleed, macro EQ, peak ballistics).

6. βš™οΈ Configuration Hub Overhaul & Atomic Backup Engine

  • Pinned Sub-Menu Tabs:
    • Sub-menu tabs are anchored as a fixed sub-header outside the scrollable body, guaranteeing tabs never scroll out of view.
  • Dedicated 4th Tab (πŸ’Ύ Backup & Storage):
    • Added a prominent πŸ’Ύ Save General Settings to Flash button that permanently commits live visualizer adjustments to NVS flash memory immediately without requiring a reboot.
    • Atomic General Backup (.json): Dedicated spectrum_general_config.json export/import engine that directly assigns settings in RAM via "cmd": "import_general_config", eliminating auto-toggle inversions and preserving independent Equalizer and Show playlists.
    • Moved the πŸ”΄ Reset All to Factory Defaults button into the Backup tab.
  • Context-Aware Hardware Reboot Button:
    • The hardware restart button is displayed strictly on tabs that alter physical hardware (Wi-Fi & Device and Matrix & Hardware), removing confusion on general setting tabs.
  • Centered Tab Layout:
    • Redesigned all Configuration Hub sub-pages with centered labels, centered inputs/dropdowns, and centered tables matching a clean studio appliance aesthetic.
  • Proprietary Telemetry Redaction (modalInfo):
    • Redacted internal audio DSP pipeline specifications from client telemetry.
    • Added Processor Architecture: Dual-Core 32-Bit High-Performance Processor (240 MHz) and placed Free RAM on its own separate line.
    • Expanded modal width to $560\text{px}$ with centered alignment and standardized the flasher button as OTA Update.

7. πŸŽ›οΈ Graphic Equalizer Studio Expansion (16, 32, & 64 Bands)

  • Dynamic 64-Band Scaling:
    • Fully supports 64-band frequency visualization on matrices $\ge 64$ columns with $1\text{ LED/band}$.
    • All 65 frequency cutoffs are strictly capped for identical high-frequency balance between 16, 32, and 64 bands without inactive top columns.
  • 10 Band-Aware User Custom Presets:
    • Completely isolated flash storage for 10 custom curves per band resolution, featuring editable slot names and full JSON export/import sharing.
  • Factory Default Profile: Standardized across all resolutions to "vocal_air" (Vocal Air & Breath), providing clean vocal clarity, punchy kick drum definition, and airy high-frequency sparkle.

8. πŸ“¦ 5-Stage Modular HTTP Chunked Streaming Pipeline

  • Decoupled Architecture:
    • Split the monolithic client script into 4 specialized modular headers: web_scripts_data.h (dictionaries & curves), web_scripts_show.h (playlist engine), web_scripts_eq.h (equalizer & ribbons), and web_scripts.h (WebSocket client & navigation).
  • Network Stability:
    • Delivers the dashboard in 5 non-blocking flash chunks with $5\text{ ms}$ FreeRTOS yields (vTaskDelay(pdMS_TO_TICKS(5))), eliminating TCP socket buffer congestion, reducing heap memory spikes, and completely preventing AI token truncation during updates.

9. πŸ”Œ Extended Hardware & Power Management

  • Smart 5V Current Limiter: Extended range from 500 mA (0.5A) up to 20,000 mA (20A) in 250 mA increments.
  • Hardware Mains Power Relay: Configurable active-HIGH relay output (Default GPIO 18) that energizes on power-on and drops on standby to disconnect AC mains power from external power supplies, eliminating coil whine and idle power draw.
