• macOS app icon setting: pick the Dock / app-switcher icon from the Settings tab — official plus the eight artist variants (blueprint, chalkboard, microchip, glass, holographic, paper, retro, xray). The custom/custom-style variants need extra macos-icon-* keys, so those stay config-file territory.
• Cursor style explained: changing the cursor style while Ghostty's shell integration would override it at the prompt now shows a hint pointing at shell-integration-features = no-cursor; the missing block_hollow value is also available.
• Starship permission preservation: if copying the existing starship.toml's permissions onto the temp file fails, the apply now aborts and cleans up instead of replacing a restrictive (e.g. 0600) config with a default-mode file.

Carried over

All rc.1/rc.2 fixes: theme-backup data-loss protection (last-wins repeated keys, verbatim raw values, base-theme layering, conditional-theme guard), font-family fallback-stack protection, settings prefill, and the nine multi-agent review fixes.

• Conditional base themes: applying a theme over theme = dark:Foo,light:Bar (or a theme hauntty can't find) with inline color overrides no longer writes a backup that silently misses the base palette — the apply now refuses with an explanatory message and leaves the config untouched.
• Settings editing: text settings with real (non-label) defaults now prefill their actual value when edited, instead of starting empty.

Release candidate for v0.1.4, cut from PR #7. Please test theme applies against configs with inline colors before this goes stable.

Theme-backup data-loss fixes

• The backup theme written before a theme apply now captures the effective inline colors: repeated keys follow Ghostty's last-one-wins rule, and an empty value is treated as Ghostty's "reset to default".
• Values Ghostty accepts but hauntty can't model as RGB — named X11 colors (background = black), cell-foreground/cell-background, palette indices 16–255 — are now preserved verbatim in the backup file instead of being silently dropped. This holds for values inherited from a base theme = as well as inline overrides.
• The settings editor no longer treats a repeated text key (e.g. a font-family fallback stack) as unset: it displays "(multiple entries)", refuses inline editing with an explanatory toast, and an empty submission can no longer delete the whole stack.

Ultrareview fixes

Also includes the nine fixes from the 2026-08-24 multi-agent review: theme data loss and backup-name collisions in apply, text-input garbage writes and the DownloadStarship bug in the TUI, Starship out-of-bounds index / env-var path guard / config-permission preservation, dead-code cleanup, and CI/MSRV corrections (Rust 1.88).
