Mr. Mak Workspace 0.5.0: Mobile chats and voice input

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 18:08

Your Mr. Mak chats are now available on your phone. The agents keep running on your computer while you read replies, send a follow-up or dictate a new task.

Mobile access

  • Pair through the phone button in Chats with Tailscale, a QR code and desktop confirmation.
  • Read Codex and Claude conversations, or open the live terminal. Your phone and desktop keep independent views.
  • Send messages and images, resume chats, and read Workspace reports. Drafts stay on the phone and delivery receipts help recover after a dropped connection.
  • Add the mobile page to your Home Screen. The computer must stay awake with Mr. Mak and Tailscale running.

Voice input

Tap the microphone, speak, then stop and review the text before pressing Send. Failed transcriptions retain the recording for retry or download. This optional feature uses OpenRouter or OpenAI API credit with a key stored on your computer. Typed chat access continues to use your existing CLI account.

Fixes and documentation

  • Long links and file paths no longer push mobile chat cards outside the screen.
  • Mobile reports support Windows short paths and linked repository roots while keeping external folders blocked.
  • QR links open from phone cameras without allowing cross-site API access.
  • Linux AppImages receive corrected launcher permissions and a final package check, with an Ubuntu 22.04 build baseline.
  • Updated dependencies, including the MCP SDK OAuth issuer fix.
  • README and setup instructions cover pairing, reconnecting, microphone access and API billing. Shared authoring skills now include mobile report checks.

0.4.19: Talk to Mak images and asset manifests

Choose a tag to compare

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 05 Oct 12:34

Talk to Mak now supports image attachments and multiline messages.

  • Paste screenshots or attach images, preview them before sending, and keep the draft if a request fails. Codex receives the images, while local copies stay in inbox.
  • Use Shift+Enter for a new line and Enter to send. Text composition no longer sends a message accidentally.
  • Dismiss microphone and message errors without restarting the conversation.
  • Coordinator-created chats and project MCP checks respect the permissions selected by the user.
  • Build or verify optional offline asset manifests to check file sizes and hashes. Thanks to @zedarvates for #11. Manifest guide.

Finish active tasks and quit Mr. Mak before installing the update. Your project folder, settings and chat history stay in place. The manifest CLI comes from updating the repository source. Update guide.

Includes fixes for #13, #14 and #15, and the first phase of #6. The taskbar-icon report (#16) and the wider security review (#5) remain open.

Downloads include the Windows x64 installer and binary, Linux x86_64 binary and AppImage, and macOS app archive and DMG. SHA-256 checksums are provided in SHA256SUMS.txt.

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 19:30

Mr. Mak Workspace 0.4.18 adds Linux packaging and a foundation for project-aware tools. Thanks to @rluders for the contribution in #8 and the follow-up fixes.

  • Linux AppImage packaging and release builds for Windows, Linux and macOS.
  • Generic and Godot project detection, with project metadata and optional editor/run commands.
  • Optional Markdown knowledge sources and integration-provider infrastructure. External services remain unconfigured until you add them.
  • Windows compatibility checks for startup, OpenCode discovery and conversation recovery.

This release also includes the Dark, Light and System themes from 0.4.17, plus the browser Preview fixes.

Windows update: finish active tasks, quit Mr. Mak, then run the windows-x64-setup.exe installer. Your repository, conversations and settings stay in place. Source and Preview users can follow the update guide.

Windows startup and interface behavior were tested locally. All three platform packages build in CI; Linux and macOS desktop behavior has not been interactively tested here. The macOS package targets Apple Silicon.

The initial packaging run failed while archiving the macOS app. The corrected workflow retains the .app alongside the DMG; the rerun is linked below.

0.4.17: Workspace themes and Preview fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 02 Oct 06:31

Workspace now has a reading theme in Settings > Appearance > Workspace theme:

  • Light: dark text on white across the home screen, navigation, Files, Markdown and standard HTML reports.
  • System: follows your device's color preference.
  • Dark: keeps the existing appearance and remains the default.

The choice is saved. Changing it preserves a report's scroll position and edits. Terminal colors are controlled separately, and artwork keeps its original colors. Browser Preview also has a Settings button in the top bar.

This release also fixes browser cards failing to load after normal Preview setup, image dialogs closing immediately in development mode, and the Vite __dirname warning. Rust is only needed to compile the native desktop app, not to run Preview or the downloaded installer.

Windows: finish active tasks, quit Mr. Mak, then run the attached installer. Your repository, chats and saved settings remain in place.

Browser Preview: merge the latest source into your existing repository, stop Preview, then run Setup.ps1 -Mode Preview again and reload the browser. An installer alone does not update Preview.

Custom HTML designs can preserve their palette with data-mak-theme="custom" on the root element. See customization and the update guide.

Validation: production build, lint, template checks, all 59 service tests, browser navigation and desktop UI checks. Theme checks cover persistence, live switching, System mode and unchanged chat appearance. Issue #1 remains open for the reporter to confirm the Preview fix.

Mr. Mak Workspace 0.4.16

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 01 Oct 10:29

OpenCode is now available in New chat, History and the default-agent setting.

  • Run your installed OpenCode CLI with its own provider accounts and model settings.
  • Keep native conversation history, pin and color tabs, attach file paths and paste screenshots.
  • See working and unread-answer indicators. Closing a tab lets OpenCode finish shutting down its local database before the terminal stops.
  • Ask the optional voice assistant to open an OpenCode chat.

No API key is required for Claude Code or Codex chats when you sign in with an eligible subscription. Mr. Mak runs the real CLIs and keeps their normal authentication and plan limits. The optional voice assistant uses a separately billed OpenAI API connection. OpenCode uses the authentication and billing of the providers configured in OpenCode; this does not extend Claude Code subscription access to third-party clients.

Update: finish active tasks, quit Mr. Mak, install the Windows x64 update, then open your existing repository. Install and configure OpenCode separately if you want to use it. Your cards and existing chats remain in place. Source users can merge this update and rebuild. The skills pack from 0.4.14 is unchanged.

Checked with OpenCode 1.18.3 and 2.0.21, including real terminal close/reopen and native context recovery against a local mock model. No paid model calls were used for those checks. All 59 service tests passed, along with browser preview and desktop UI checks for History, scrolling, copy, links and Markdown. The MCP inspector does not yet list OpenCode configuration; use OpenCode's native MCP controls.

Download the installer below. SHA256SUMS.txt contains its checksum.

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 30 Sep 12:44

This update fixes two reported setup and preview problems and reduces sensitive data in local diagnostics.

  • Browser preview: Markdown links and images no longer crash the Workspace. A failed report also leaves navigation and a reload button available. Fixes #1.
  • Source setup: root npm ci installs the local service dependencies, so npm test and service startup work without an extra install step. Fixes #2.
  • Local service: window authentication credentials are no longer saved in runtime.json. Updated fast-uri to 3.1.8 for GHSA-hrr3-gc8f-f4qj.
  • Added private security reporting instructions. The separate report in #5 remains open pending private reproduction details; this release does not claim to resolve it.

Update: finish active tasks, quit Mr. Mak, and install the Windows x64 update below. Your project folder is preserved. Browser-preview users should merge the source changes, run npm ci, and restart Vite. See the update guide.

The 20-skill pack from 0.4.14 is unchanged.

Validation: 54 service tests, browser preview across four cards and 16 steps, Markdown URL and failed-module recovery checks, desktop UI checks, template checks, and a Windows installer build. Root and service npm audits report no known vulnerabilities at release time.

Thanks to @Elryse, @xaver-lab and @dpsr for their reports, and @zedarvates for the proposed asset-delivery verification work.

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 30 Sep 06:09

0.4.14: game workflows and Codex History

  • Six new agent workflows for game VFX, UI, animation integration, level design, audio and native visual review. Twenty project-local skills are now included for both Codex and Claude.
  • Updated Blender animation, motion references, handoffs and routing. A separate skills ZIP includes resources, licences and an installation guide.
  • Fixed Codex conversation recovery across local/UTC dates, large metadata and delayed first prompts.

This release follows public 0.1.2 and aligns version numbers at 0.4.14.

Quit the app after active tasks finish, install the update, and reopen your existing repository. To add the new skills, merge the repository update or use the skills ZIP; the installer does not replace project content. Read docs/updating.md before updating a customized repository.

Requires a signed-in Codex CLI and/or Claude Code CLI. Optional provider accounts and editor connections are separate.

Choose a tag to compare

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 23 Sep 08:35

Fixes mouse-wheel scrolling in fullscreen Claude Code chats. Scrolling keeps working when you return to a tab or reconnect.

To update: finish active tasks, quit Mr. Mak Workspace from its tray menu, then run the Windows installer below. Open your existing repository. Your project files, settings and chat history stay in place.

This release also includes the browser-link and terminal-layout fixes from 0.1.1.

Checked with 47 service tests, browser interaction tests and a smoke test of the packaged runtime. The installer includes the application and local service; CLI sign-ins and your repository remain separate.

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 22 Sep 11:29

Web links now open in your default browser with a click, including links in agent terminals and Workspace cards.

  • The bottom terminal row stays visible above the connection bar, so you can see the model and reasoning effort.
  • New Codex and Claude chats default to xhigh. Saved effort choices are preserved.

To update: finish active tasks, quit Mr. Mak Workspace from its tray menu, then run the Windows x64 installer below. Reopen your existing repository. Your project files, settings and chat history stay in place.

@witnesstodark witnesstodark released this 15 Sep 09:43

First public Windows x64 template release.

Install and sign in to Codex CLI and/or Claude Code CLI before setup. At least one is required; neither is bundled. Optional voice requires Codex CLI and your own OpenAI API key.

Use Use this template, clone your new repository, install the app, then open Start Mr. Mak.cmd from the cloned folder. On a first Start-menu launch, select that repository.

Four starter examples:

  • My Dream Game: Mr. Mak 64, with an intro screen, character exploration, six island layouts and a development board. Includes 16 concept images and three Unity prototype scene captures.
  • Creative MCP Connections: opens on the tool shortlist, with source links and connection instructions.
  • Make Workspace Yours: opens on Get Started.
  • Arachne Character Lab: Versions 1 through 9, expandable saved prompts, all 158 images and eight motion studies.

Fourteen neutral project skills include complete instructions and resources for both Codex and Claude Code. The optional voice assistant and quick-action confirmations default to English. Keys and MCP configuration start empty; the Win-key shortcut and CLI permission bypass start disabled.

The installer bundles the local Node service. This is an unsigned community build. Read README and docs/getting-started.md for prerequisites and agent-assisted installation. No Unity project or playable game executable is bundled.

Validation: 43 service tests, template and local-link checks, 42 browser cases across two window widths, a final focused game/skill preview pass, and a Windows installer build. Image previews and downloads, saved prompts and eight videos were checked. Paid voice and generation services were not called for this export.
