New

• Edit SVGs live. Open an SVG and press E (or the </> button): the source opens next to the image with syntax highlighting, and every change shows at once. Invalid markup is pointed out while the last good picture stays on screen. Ctrl/Cmd+S saves back to the file, Revert throws your changes away, and unsaved edits survive a look at other images.
• Dark on dark, solved. Transparent images whose content would disappear (a black icon on the dark window, a white logo in the light theme) now sit on a soft card in the opposite tone. Press B to choose a checkerboard, black or white backdrop instead.
• Wrong extension? Glint tells you. A PNG saved as .jpg still opens, and now an amber note in the top bar says so; the info panel explains why other apps may refuse the file and which extension fits.

• SVGs live bearbeiten. Ein SVG öffnen und E drücken (oder den </>-Knopf): der Quelltext erscheint neben dem Bild mit Syntaxhervorhebung, jede Änderung ist sofort zu sehen. Fehlerhaftes Markup wird angezeigt, das letzte gültige Bild bleibt stehen. Strg/Cmd+S speichert in die Datei, Verwerfen nimmt die Änderungen zurück, ungespeicherte Änderungen bleiben beim Blättern erhalten.
• Dunkel auf dunkel, gelöst. Transparente Bilder, deren Inhalt sonst verschwinden würde (ein schwarzes Icon im dunklen Fenster, ein weißes Logo im hellen Design), liegen jetzt auf einer Karte im Gegenton. Mit B lässt sich stattdessen Schachbrett, Schwarz oder Weiß wählen.
• Falsche Endung? Glint sagt es dir. Ein als .jpg gespeichertes PNG öffnet weiterhin, und jetzt weist ein gelber Hinweis in der Titelleiste darauf hin; der Infobereich erklärt, warum andere Programme die Datei ablehnen könnten und welche Endung passt.

• German interface. Glint follows the system language: on a German Windows or macOS it starts in German, everywhere else in English. Menus, tooltips, the info panel, the shortcuts overview and the About dialog are translated, and numbers and dates use the local format (3,8 MP, 1,5 MB).
• Language menu. More > Language switches between English and Deutsch, or back to following the system.

The first release of Glint, a fast, beautiful image viewer for Windows and macOS.

Highlights

• Every image. PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, SVG, BMP, ICO, TIFF, PSD, JPEG XL, TGA, QOI, DDS, HDR, EXR, Netpbm and HEIC (macOS). Files are recognized by their content, not just the extension.
• Make it the default. Glint registers for all of these types, so an SVG opens in Glint instead of the browser.
• Slideshow from a selection. Select several images in Explorer or Finder and open them together: Glint gathers them into one slideshow with Ken Burns motion, a crossfade and a filmstrip.
• Ambient light. Every image sits in a soft glow of its own colors.
• Look closer. Info panel with histogram and camera data, a six-color palette (click to copy), a pixel loupe with the hex value under the cursor, and a contact sheet of the whole set.
• Transparency done right. Ambient, checkerboard, black or white backdrop.
• Updates itself. New releases download in the background and install when you close Glint, or right away with "Restart to update".
• Zoom at the cursor, pan, rotate, mirror, fullscreen, copy to clipboard, drag and drop, dark and light theme.

The builds are not code-signed yet. On Windows, SmartScreen may ask once: choose More info > Run anyway. On macOS, open the app with right-click > Open the first time, or run xattr -cr /Applications/Glint.app.
