Orbit HR 0.4.0

Payroll release. Four milestones of work on the payroll core, closing the gaps that mattered most for Malaysian employers running real monthly runs.

Pay types and proration

• Employees can now be paid monthly, daily or hourly, with their own rate.
• Salary proration for mid-month joiners and leavers, with four divisor modes (calendar days, working days, fixed 26, fixed 30). Fixed divisors are capped at a full month so a short month can never overpay.
• Unpaid leave now reaches payroll. Approved unpaid days flow into the run automatically, full day or half day, and are shown as their own UPL Days and UPL Amount columns.
• Work quantity for daily and hourly staff defaults from approved timesheets, and can be overridden per run.

Itemised pay items

• Earnings and deductions are now itemised lines instead of one lump allowance and one lump deduction.
• Each pay item carries its own statutory treatment, so an allowance can be EPF-able and SOCSO-able without being HRD-leviable, and a reimbursement stays out of taxable income entirely.
• New Pay Items settings screen to see and change how every item is treated.
• Recurring deductions on the pay profile for loans and advances, with an optional remaining-balance countdown.
• A bonus entered as a line is taxed on the LHDN additional-remuneration path, not as normal monthly pay.

Statutory completeness

• Voluntary EPF and i-Topup: elected rates above the statutory minimum, with Borang A splitting statutory from voluntary.
• CP38 instalment directives, deducted after PCB and carried through to the CP39 file.
• Additional PCB reliefs (SSPN, life insurance, lifestyle, medical), each individually capped.
• Borang E and C.P.8D annual employer return, alongside the existing EA batch.

Payroll screen

• One-screen payroll grid: every employee and every figure in a single scrollable table, grouped the way a payslip reads. Columns shed by priority as the window narrows rather than wrapping.
• Employer cost breakdown: what the run actually costs you, gross plus every employer-side contribution.
• Bulk payslip download as a single zip.
• Two new reports: payroll listing and wage base listing.
• The calendar is now an entry surface. Click a day to record unpaid leave, rest day or public holiday work, and overtime, writing through the same records the dedicated screens use.

Also

• A license key issued for another Orbit product is now rejected rather than silently accepted.

Install

• macOS: Orbit-HR-0.4.0-universal.dmg. Universal build for both Apple Silicon and Intel. Signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally with no right-click workaround.
• Windows: Orbit-HR-Setup-0.4.0.exe. Covers x64 and ARM64. This installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will show a warning. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Verified before release: 38 test and smoke suites green, and the packaged build boots against the upgraded database.

Orbit HR 0.3.0

First public build of Orbit HR, local-first HR and statutory payroll for Malaysian SMEs.

Install

Universal macOS build, runs on both Intel and Apple silicon (macOS 11+).

The app is signed with a Developer ID but is not notarized, so macOS blocks it on first launch. To open it: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway. This is expected and only happens once.
