What’s new

Reliability

• Outlook email drops no longer trigger a crash. Maildrop now safely hands completed Outlook file drops back to its filing window before updating the batch, preventing the crash introduced in 0.9.39.
• Long protected links no longer shrink an entire PDF. Security-rewritten links from services such as Check Point now wrap across lines instead of making Maildrop scale the whole email to microscopic type.

What’s new

Reliability

• See exactly why every email is in that order. Each row now shows the date, local time, time zone, and whether Maildrop used the message’s sent time or a transport-time fallback. A preflight strip counts ready emails, warnings, and items already on file, and jumps straight to the next item in each group. Truly undated messages are clearly marked and remain stable at the end.

New

• Reuse filing details without silent guesses. You can explicitly remember a Party and Description for one correspondent in one matter, then apply those saved details with a click on later emails. Maildrop never overwrites the row automatically, keeps the correspondent key hashed, and lets you replace, forget, or clear saved details at any time.
• Filing History now works like a receipt book. Receipts are grouped by filing batch and can be searched by matter or filename, filtered by Filed, Undone, or Missing, revealed in Finder, opened at the matter, or copied by filename. Existing receipts carry forward automatically.

Reliability

• A retry now repeats only the operation that failed. Preview failures retry that preview, filing failures retry the unsaved work, and import or parse failures no longer offer a misleading save retry. Overlapping imports also preserve the failure that needs attention instead of clearing it when another email finishes successfully.

Privacy

• Workflow improvements can be measured without seeing the work. Optional anonymous statistics now include only fixed, bounded numeric totals such as emails filed, time to file, warnings, undos, suggestion acceptance, and saved-detail use. The endpoint rejects unknown fields and never accepts email, matter, filename, path, address, or entered text.

• Apply exactly the edit you intend. Select particular emails in a batch, then copy only the name, only the description, or both from one row to the selection. The same choices remain available for the whole batch, and every email keeps its own incoming or outgoing direction.

Reliability

• Dropped threads now stay in chronological order. Maildrop understands more Outlook and Exchange date formats and falls back to the earliest transport timestamp when an exported email has no usable sent date. Completely undated messages remain stable at the end instead of jumping ahead of the conversation.

What’s new

New

• Maildrop remembers where related correspondence belongs. After you file an email, later messages in the same thread or from the same correspondent can offer that matter as a one-click suggestion. Maildrop never changes the destination automatically, and the routing memory stays on your Mac as keyed hashes — never email content or raw addresses.
• A filing receipt when you need reassurance. Filing History shows the last 100 successful saves, their matter, time, and whether they were undone, with one-click Reveal in Finder. It stores no subject, body, address, or Message-ID, and can be cleared at any time.

Reliability

• Safer internals and releases. Maildrop now builds under Swift 6 strict concurrency, fixes hidden off-main callback crashes in PDF printing and Outlook inbox monitoring, and adds continuous integration plus synthetic end-to-end email tests.

• The filing destination is impossible to miss now. The matter you're filing into — and the suggested matter — used to be a small chip in the panel's corner, easy to click straight past. Each now gets a full-width, full-size bar at the top of the panel: the current matter with its folder, and the suggestion as a one-click "Use" bar. With no matter chosen yet, the bar shows orange so you can't file blind.
• Click anywhere to move on after saving. Once a save completes, a click anywhere else on the screen dismisses the "Saved" confirmation and the drop pad immediately — no more waiting for them to fade on their own. Emails still queued (or an import in progress) are never swept away by a stray click, and the Reveal in Finder / Undo buttons still work as before.

What’s new

• Signature logos and inline pictures actually file now — root cause found. Emails from Exchange (most Outlook mail) describe their attached pictures in a way the parser misread: it kept the message text and threw the pictures away, which is why signature logos showed as broken placeholders — and, since 0.9.34, triggered "inline image missing" warnings on email that was perfectly fine. The pictures were in the email all along; they now file into the PDF, and those warnings disappear. Verified against the exact emails that showed the problem.

What’s new

Changes

• Signature logos no longer vanish from filed PDFs. An email whose inline image reference and stored image name differed only in letter case — which Outlook produces, especially for signatures added on a phone — filed with a broken-image placeholder where the logo belonged. The image now renders in the PDF exactly as it appeared in the email.
• If an image truly isn't in the email, the record says so. Outlook can export a message without an inline image its text still references. Instead of silently archiving a placeholder, the PDF now carries a filing note naming the missing image, and the email's row shows the orange warning before you file.
• Faster update checks. Maildrop now checks for updates every 3 hours instead of 6.

What’s new

• File a whole thread in one edit. With several emails queued, an "Apply to all" button on the row you're editing copies its Party and Description to every email in the list — a fifteen-email thread no longer means fifteen identical edits. Each email keeps its own to/from direction.
• Attached emails now file as .eml, exactly as sent. An email attached to an email saves as the original .eml file beside the PDF, byte-for-byte as it arrived — no longer converted to a PDF.
• Imperfect emails are flagged before you file. If any part of a message couldn't be decoded cleanly, its row now shows an orange warning with the details — so you know the record may be imperfect before it's filed, not after.
• Preview with the mouse. Hovering a row reveals an eye button that opens the preview — no need to know the Space shortcut. And hovering the paperclip now lists exactly which files will be saved with the email.
• Small polish. The keyboard-shortcut hint is easier to read, and the Party field grows to fit longer names.

The menu-bar envelope now shows a red numbered badge — like Dropbox's — when an update is available, downloaded and ready to install, or needs a retry. Routine states (downloading in the background, "updated successfully") stay quiet, so red always means "something to do". VoiceOver and the tooltip announce the same state, so the signal never relies on colour alone.

• Previews open when you ask, not when the queue allows. Pressing Space on any email now renders that email next — it no longer waits behind the background preparation of every other email in a big drop, so a preview that could take 15+ seconds now appears in about one.
• The app tells you it's working. Pressing Space on a not-yet-ready email shows the "Preparing…" spinner immediately instead of appearing to ignore the keypress.
• Faster rendering all round. The rendering engine is kept warm from the moment a drag starts and reused between emails instead of being rebuilt for each one, and it now detects the instant an email's images are ready rather than checking on a timer.
• No more freezes during a drop. Large emails (big attachments) are now decoded off the main thread, so the panel stays responsive while a heavy drop lands.
