Workspace Code Agent

Local Idea Studio can now inspect and safely edit code inside one user-selected workspace.

New

  • Inspect folders with permission-gated directory listing
  • Read bounded sections of text and code files (up to 400 lines per action)
  • Understand existing code before proposing an edit
  • Apply exact, unique code-block replacements
  • Automatically continue the same AI task after every approved inspection or edit
  • Create a local backup before replacing existing code

Safety

  • A native Allow once confirmation is required before every inspection or edit
  • Workspace boundaries, drive paths, traversal, linked-folder escapes, and binary files are blocked
  • Ambiguous replacements are rejected instead of changing multiple locations
  • File contents are treated as untrusted workspace data
  • Shell commands, program execution, deletion, moving files, and outside-workspace access remain unavailable

Verified

  • TypeScript checks passed
  • Reasoning and thinking-mode tests passed
  • Agent parsing, continuation, workspace-boundary, folder inspection, code reading, backup, exact-edit, and ambiguity tests passed
  • Windows x64 installer built successfully

The Windows installer is currently unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may display a warning. Download it only from this GitHub release or the official Local Idea Studio website and verify its SHA-256.
