v2.0.12
Eloquent's MySQL connection now talks to the database the way WordPress does.
Eloquent on MySQL
- Charset and collation follow WordPress (
$wpdb->charset,$wpdb->collate:utf8mb4on any recent install, even whenDB_CHARSETstill saysutf8). Up to 2.0.11 the connection was alwaysutf8/utf8_unicode_ci. On MySQL 8, writing an emoji through Eloquent failed with error 3988 ("Conversion from collation utf8mb3_unicode_ci into utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci impossible"), and an emoji written by WordPress came back through Eloquent as?(#115). DB_HOSTis read like WordPress reads it ($wpdb->parse_db_host()): a port, a socket (localhost:/tmp/mysql.sock, which did not connect before) or an IPv6 address.
The SQLite connection from 2.0.11 is unchanged.
