AbletonMCP 1.8.0 adds local audio analysis and more reliable session comparisons, with 156 typed tools for Ableton Live.

  • Analyze integer/floating-point WAV, AIFF/AIFF-C, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MP3, AAC and M4A/Apple Lossless locally. Original files and floating-point headroom are preserved.
  • Distinguish track renames and reordering from additions and deletions, including tracks with duplicate names.
  • Set device parameters using supported display units or exact enum labels, with bounded conversion and readback.
  • Replace Simpler samples on Live 12.4+ using absolute local file paths.
  • Install and upgrade the matching Remote Script with explicit replacement and recovery copies; use custom User Library locations and JSON connection diagnostics.
  • Follow the dedicated Codex setup guide and complete generated tool reference.

Install or upgrade

Use the same package version for your MCP connection and Remote Script:

uvx mcp-server-ableton-live@1.8.0 install

For an existing different Remote Script, review the installer message before running install --replace; it preserves a recovery copy. Restart Live afterward.

In Live, open Settings → Tempo & MIDI → MIDI, choose AbletonMCP in an unused Control Surface row, and set that row's Input and Output to None. Older Live versions use Link, Tempo & MIDI or Link/MIDI.

uvx mcp-server-ableton-live@1.8.0 doctor --json

Configure the MCP client to run uvx mcp-server-ableton-live@1.8.0 without the install subcommand.
