Ora 0.4.0 — Adjustable caption font size

What's new

  • Adjustable caption font size — new Caption Appearance section in Preferences with two independent sliders: one for the translation line and one for the original (source) text. Sizes apply live to the floating caption window and persist across launches. Range: translation 14–40 pt (default 22), original 9–28 pt (default 12). A live preview in the preferences pane shows the chosen sizes side-by-side before you commit.
  • iOS companion — the same setting (and live preview) is available on iOS under Settings → Caption appearance, so the on-device caption matches whatever size feels right on iPhone or iPad.

Why

Existing users asked for larger captions to read across the room (presentations, classroom use) and for smaller original text when they only want the translation to dominate. Both ends of the screen-size spectrum needed control, so the two lines are tuned independently rather than via a single scale factor.

Install

  1. Download Ora.dmg below
  2. Double-click to mount
  3. Drag Ora.app into Applications
  4. Launch — grant microphone access on first launch (and Screen Recording the first time you switch to System Audio)

Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later and Apple Silicon. Signed with Developer ID Application: wangzhang wu (46KF5Z549N) and notarized by Apple.

Upgrading from 0.3.0

Just replace Ora.app in /Applications. All existing preferences (target language, quality tier, audio source, VAD sliders, caption window position) are preserved. Caption font sizes default to the previous values, so nothing changes visually until you open Preferences and move the new sliders.
