The detail description of new feature

Hi,

I just purchased the popular portable AC Midea Portasplit and did the initial HA onboarding before I stored it in the attic (until I will need it in my little apartment in the summer months). My Midea Portasplit came pre-installed with the latest Jan 2026 firmware update, which introduced the "Out Silent Mode", which is a long-awaited feature that is supposed to reduce the noise of the outdoor unit by about 6db, which can be crucial in silent neighbourhoods, especially at night and with neighbours living in the same building.

I wanted to start this issue to figure out if the "Out Silent Mode" could also be controlled with the midea-ac-py integration.

I'm absolutely new to this integration and integrating ACs in general. Consequently I'm also not familiar with API specifics of how Midea ACs work or the Midea Portasplit in particular. So far I have only figured out that the midea-ac-lan doesn't seem to provide the "Out Silent Mode" yet. I also checked the "Extra Controls" in the integration's settings dialog. I also saw that there's a generic "Customize" field available, so maybe this option could be a way to add this new operation mode (if it is available in the local api of the device at all of course).

Like I mentioned in the beginning I have for now stored my device in the attic due to space constraints in my apartment, so I can't e.g. provide any additional logs at the moment, but maybe other users of the Portasplit AC with access to their device want to join this evaluation.

PS: I know this issue doesn't fulfil all the requirements for issue submission for the moment. It's perfectly fine if you want to close it for now, I just wanted to provide a starting point for other Portasplit owners with the same requirement. I will certainly follow-up in a few weeks when I moved my Portasplit device back into my apartment.

debug log only required for bug report and not required for new feature.
anyway, you have submit a clearly requirement and screenshot, and we still need more to confirm the feature details, need to confirm and check with lua protocol with device SN, and you don't submit your device SN in issue template.
maybe you can got it with your mobile phone app device details.

@wuwentao I added the serial number in my initial post.

Requirement would be to add an additional "Extra controls" switch with the name "Out Silent Mode" (proposal) and half moon pictogram (also used for "Sleep Mode", proposal).

Is this sufficient for the requirement? What additional screenshots would you need?

If nobody else follows up, I will probably latest carry my Portasplit AC back into my apartment end of May to provide additional data.

Hi, I've implemented the Out Silent Mode feature for the PortaSplit. Two PRs are submitted:

1. Protocol layer (midea-local): feat(ac): add out_silent (outdoor silent mode) support for PortaSplit midea-lan/midea-local#441 — adds out_silent attribute support (capability 0x00CD, using 0x03 to activate / 0x00 to deactivate)
2. Integration layer (midea_ac_lan): feat(ac): add Outdoor Silent Mode switch for PortaSplit #820 — adds the switch entity + translations

Tested locally on a PortaSplit device with the Jan 2026 firmware — the switch toggles reliably.

Protocol details are based on the analysis from mill1000/midea-msmart#258 (already merged there).
