Wysebee Desktop 0.4.0
Wysebee is now one agent that works in your browser. Open the app and you land on Home, a chat with Wysebee. Tell it what to do on the web and watch it work in your own Chrome, Edge or Brave.
⚠️ This release removes features and deletes their data. Read Removed below before you upgrade. The app makes a backup of your database first (wysebee.db.v<N>.bak, next to the database file).
New
-
Home: chat with Wysebee. The app opens on a full-window chat. Pick the model there; the gear opens Wysebee's settings (browser access, instructions, skills).
-
Watch the agent work. A red pointer shows where the agent is in the page: it moves to each click, pulses when it clicks, follows drags and scrolls, and shows a caret where it types. The agent is told to get around the way you would, by clicking links rather than typing addresses.
-
Record agent sessions (opt-in). Turn it on in Settings → System → Recordings. For each chat turn or task run you get, in
~/Wysebee/recordings/<date-time>:- a picture after every click, typed text, scroll, drag and page opened
- an animated GIF and WebP of them
- a Playwright test of the steps (
recording.spec.ts), as a starting point for a test of your own. Text typed into password, card and one-time-code fields is never written into it; the test reads it from environment variables instead.
The browser shows a notification saying where each recording was saved, a task run's page has Open recording, and Settings → System has Open recordings folder. The newest 50 recordings are kept. Recordings are pictures of your pages, stored unencrypted on this computer; it is off by default.
-
First-launch setup guide. New installs are walked through connecting a browser and adding an AI provider key.
-
Browser check. If no browser is connected after launch, the app offers to set one up again, or explains why it can't reach the one you have. "Don't ask again" turns it off, and Settings → Connections turns it back on.
-
Reset App. Settings → System → Reset App puts Wysebee back the way it was when you downloaded it: it deletes everything stored on this computer, recordings included.
-
Clearer chats. Tool calls between two replies are grouped into one row ("Used 6 tools"). Each shows its result, never its arguments, and pictures it returned stay visible.
-
Snapshots come with a picture. When the agent reads a page that's in front, you see what it saw, and so does a model that can read images.
-
Web development tools on by default for Wysebee: console, network, script, viewport, inspect, audit, performance. They only act once a browser is chosen, and you can turn them off on Wysebee's General tab.
Browser extension (0.1.21 → 0.1.33)
- The side panel chats with Wysebee directly (no agent picker) and can change Wysebee's model.
- When the extension isn't connected, its popup links to the Wysebee Desktop download, or says to open the app if it's already installed.
- It no longer shows "Connected" while Wysebee Desktop is closed.
- Wysebee Desktop now stops the browser's helper when the app quits or when you remove the browser connection.
- The new extension version comes with the app. Choose Update now in the extension's popup when it offers it.
Removed
Wysebee now does one thing, work in your browser, and these features are gone:
- Every agent except Wysebee. Other agents and agent groups are deleted. What an agent page held (browser, instructions, skills) is now Wysebee's settings.
- The Tool Library and every tool type: HTTP Request, JSON Response, Toolset/MCP, Docker Shell and Command, Local Command, Local Files, Desktop Control, SQL, Notification. Tools, tool categories, their credentials and the Tools tab are deleted.
- Database connections and the database access that went with them.
- Decision tasks and query tasks, with their runs, and the Jev provider. Tasks are a plan carried out in the browser.
- Wysebee Assistant, the in-app helper panel.
- Cloud backup and restore. Something different will replace it.
Your skills, plan-based tasks and their runs, AI provider keys and browser connections carry over.
Upgrading
- Install over 0.3.0; the database is upgraded on first launch, after a backup is made.
- After launching, reload the browser extension so it picks up 0.1.33 (Update now in the extension's popup, or your browser's Extensions page).
