zisla v0.1.0 Preview
If your Mac has a notch and you would like to put it to work, or if you run several AI tools in the background and want to see their progress at a glance, give zisla a try. It works just as well on Macs without a notch.
What zisla brings to your desktop
zisla is a native macOS workspace built with SwiftUI and AppKit. Its event-driven, notch-aware surface stays out of the way while you work, expands only when it has something useful to show, and follows macOS conventions across multiple displays and Spaces.
It brings together Now Playing controls, file relay and sharing, secure video and audio downloads, weather, calendar, reminders, Notes integration, configurable desktop tools, and system utilities. Its privacy-conscious AI activity monitor recognizes supported local CLI and desktop-tool activity, shows task progress and usage trends, and does not read prompt or response content. The included zislactl hook also lets other tools report their own activity.
Preview status
zisla supports macOS 14 and later, with Liquid Glass on newer macOS releases and native-material fallbacks on earlier supported versions. This preview has been tested only on macOS 26 Tahoe and macOS 27 Golden.
This is an early preview release, so rough edges and bugs are expected. It uses a free ad-hoc signature and is not notarized. Drag zisla to Applications, then use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway if macOS blocks the first launch. This free build does not include WeatherKit.
Automatic updates are enabled through Sparkle. This Preview build reads the signed latest-release feed; because v0.1.0 is a prerelease, it will not update until a later stable release becomes the repository's Latest release. That stable release can update this Preview directly.

A Windows version is on the way. Some functionality will necessarily differ from the macOS edition. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Known Issues
- On some M2 MacBook Pro models with active cooling (fan-equipped models), the app incorrectly detects the device as a fanless Mac.
- The packaged app’s top notification does not display the pinned message: “Hey, look here.”
- Voice input may cause the app to crash unexpectedly.
- The packaged version is missing the pet feature.
- When the display duration is set to 3 seconds, the notch overlay does not automatically hide and may leave a black area visible, especially on Macs without a notch.
On Macs with a notch, when the pet feature is enabled, the pet should extend beyond the notch area instead of being covered by it. - Switching songs triggers repeated privacy permission requests. Even after granting permission, switching playback modes does not work properly.
- Some completed AI sessions are still incorrectly detected as active, causing the notch indicator to remain in the “AI session in progress” state. In this case, the right-side status indicator may show three dots instead of the session count.
- Enabling Focus Mode does not display the overflow notification/status indicator.
- Other AI applications should also support opening and jumping directly to the corresponding conversation/session.
