Flit 0.1.0-beta.3

This beta fixes archive, trash, and read operations remaining local instead of reaching Gmail.

Fixed

• Pending operations now snapshot the message’s Inbox UID and UIDVALIDITY when queued.
• Existing operations migrate to their preserved Inbox location instead of inheriting mutable All Mail thread metadata.
• UIDVALIDITY changes re-resolve the message through Gmail’s stable message ID.
• Account queues drain safely during metadata synchronization instead of skipping user-triggered work.
• One stale operation can no longer block every operation behind it.

The affected live queue was recovered during validation: all 41 pending operations completed, and direct Gmail checks confirmed the three newly reported messages are no longer in the remote Inbox.

Install

Download Flit-0.1.0-beta.3.dmg, open it, and replace Flit in Applications. This universal build supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or newer. It is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.

Known limitations

• Google OAuth verification is incomplete; new users see Google’s unverified-app warning, and the client is subject to the 100-new-user cap.
• Gmail is the only connected provider.
• New-message composition and attachments are not complete.
• There is no offline SMTP outbox or automatic updater.

This beta fixes intermittent messages remaining indefinitely on Loading message….

Fixed

• User-selected messages now take priority over speculative body prefetches.
• Stalled or stale IMAP connections are cancelled instead of waiting forever.
• Gmail connection, command, and complete body-fetch work now have bounded deadlines.
• Selected-message loads retry once after a transient IMAP failure or timeout.
• Cancelled session waiters leave the Gmail queue immediately.

The existing BODY.PEEK behavior remains non-mutating, and downloaded message bodies remain capped at 1 MiB.

Flit 0.1.0-beta.1

Flit’s first public beta is a fast, lightweight, native Gmail client for macOS.

Install

1. Download Flit-0.1.0-beta.1.dmg below.
2. Open the disk image.
3. Drag Flit into Applications.
4. Open Flit and choose Accounts → Add Gmail Account….

Requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer. The build is universal for Apple silicon and Intel Macs, Developer ID signed, and notarized by Apple.

• Native AppKit unified inbox with local SQLite and fast search
• Gmail OAuth, bounded IMAP synchronization, and SMTP sending
