iLyrics 1.0.1

@x96x64 x96x64 released this 12 Oct 04:26

A fix release of iLyrics 1.0.

Fixed

  • The model templates are found when ilyrics is run by name through PATH, as Homebrew, npm, and pip install it. Version 1.0.0 found them only when it was run by its full path or with ILYRICS_TEMPLATES set, so ilyrics doctor reported "Model templates: not found" and alignment could not install its models.

Upgrading

brew upgrade ilyrics, npm install -g ilyrics, or pipx upgrade ilyrics (or pip install --upgrade ilyrics). No other change is needed.

See the changelog for details.

iLyrics 1.0.0

@x96x64 x96x64 released this 12 Oct 04:07

The first stable release of iLyrics: a macOS command that renders lyrics videos reproducing the Lyrics screen of the Music app on iPhone and synchronizes plain lyrics to a recording on device.

Important

iLyrics is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple. You are responsible for the rights to the recordings, lyrics, and artwork you render and for how you publish the videos.

Highlights

  • Measured visual fidelity. The Lyrics screen was compared with six unseen screen recordings of the Music app on iPhone 16 running iOS 27. Control positions and the auto-hide delay meet the approved thresholds; the known differences, including the background's colour and contrast, the brightness of inactive lines, and the timing of the instrumental-gap indicator, are stated in the visual qualification results.
  • Stable interface. Command-line options, the lyrics input syntax, and the report formats now follow Semantic Versioning; see Support.
  • Songwriter credits and duets. A Written by: line or --credits shows the songwriters after the last line, and lines beginning with > are right-aligned for a duet's second singer.
  • Native paragraph spacing, accented Latin letters in plain lyrics, up to 256 paragraphs, and long lines that wrap beyond four rendered lines.

Installation

brew install x96x64/tap/ilyrics, npm install -g ilyrics, or pipx install ilyrics (macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon). Models installed by 0.2.0 remain valid.

See the changelog for details.

iLyrics 0.2.0

@x96x64 x96x64 released this 11 Oct 23:39

The public preview of iLyrics, formerly iLyric: a macOS command that renders lyrics videos reproducing the Lyrics screen of the Music app on iPhone and synchronizes plain lyrics to a recording on device.

Important

The visual preset is not yet qualified, and command-line options may change before the stable release. iLyrics is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple.

Highlights

  • Packages. Install with brew install x96x64/tap/ilyrics, npm install -g ilyrics, or pipx install ilyrics (macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon).
  • Qualified English synchronization. On 80 unseen recordings with manual word timing, 95.9% of lines were placed correctly, 0.5% were misplaced, and 3.6% were left untimed; three recordings fell below 80% (results).
  • Neighbour acceptance. Lines framed by confidently aligned neighbours are now timed, which raised the share of timed lines.
  • Longer recordings. Recordings of up to twenty minutes are supported.

Upgrading from 0.1.0

The command is now ilyrics, the environment variables are ILYRICS_MODELS and ILYRICS_TEMPLATES, and the model cache moved to ~/Library/Application Support/iLyrics/Models; run ilyrics models install once. Report and recipe format identifiers changed to ilyrics-*.

See the changelog for details.

@x96x64 x96x64 released this 11 Oct 09:04

The first experimental source release of iLyric, a macOS command that renders lyrics videos reproducing the Lyrics screen of the Music app on iPhone and synchronizes plain lyrics to a recording on device.

Important

English synchronization and the visual preset have not yet been qualified for a public preview, and command-line options may change. iLyric is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple.

Highlights

  • ilyric render AUDIO LYRICS -o VIDEO.mp4 aligns plain lyrics automatically or uses supplied TTML, LRC, or Enhanced LRC timing, and renders a 1080 × 1920, 60-frame-per-second video with stereo audio.
  • ilyric align writes word-timed TTML and a JSON report from HTDemucs vocal separation and wav2vec 2.0 forced alignment, run natively through Core ML without Python or FFmpeg.
  • ilyric models rebuilds the alignment models on your Mac from the publishers' pinned files; iLyric redistributes no trained weights.
  • ilyric doctor checks the environment.

On an Apple M4, a five-minute song is aligned and rendered in about seven minutes with a peak memory footprint of 3.0 GB.

Installation

Build from source with a Swift 6 toolchain on macOS 14 or later, as described in the README. Homebrew, npm, and pip packages are planned for the public preview.

Rights

Control icons are SF Symbols resolved at render time and never bundled; Apple's terms do not expressly license them in exported videos, and publication of rendered videos is the user's responsibility. See the SF Symbols Rights Assessment.

See the changelog for details.
