Release list
Werewolf Dynamics v0.4.0
Thirteen modules now. Two new boxes, and a new face on every panel.
New modules
WD Strip — a console channel in one window: preamp into EQ into
compressor, with a model selector on each stage. Any of the five Pre laws,
either EQ, any of the four compressors. The three stages share one power
rail inside the same process, so the compressor's knee genuinely moves when
the preamp leans on the supply. No rack required.
WD Duress — a curve-family compressor in the Distressor spirit. Every
ratio position is its own engineered curve: 1:1 is warm-up distortion with
no compression, 10:1 borrows an opto release with a twenty-second tail,
Nuke is a log-release brickwall. Three distortion modes, two stereo link
laws, and a British Mode that overrides the envelope.
The new look
Every faceplate moved to a flat, instrument-style design language: flat
color fields, fine printed tick work, clear text. No fake screws, no fake
metal, no glow. Same layouts, same controls, same sound — your sessions and
presets load unchanged. A neutral WD Graphite theme is now built into every
module's theme picker.
Also in this release
- WD FET: triggered attack scope on the gain-reduction strip — a single-shot
capture of each attack dive with a measured time-to-63% readout, so you
can see what the ATTACK knob actually did. - CPU: the spring tank in WD Echo runs about a third lighter, WD Tape's ECO
mode was re-voiced to track HQ within 6% THD on hot program, and offline
bounces now force HQ automatically. - Fixed a startup crash in WD XQ's browser-preview path.
Install
Unzip, copy each .vst3 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3,
rescan in your DAW. Windows 10/11, 64-bit, any VST3 host. Builds are not
code-signed yet, so expect the usual first-download grumble.
Werewolf Dynamics v0.3.0
The first full release. Eleven plugins, simulated from the circuit up.
The lineup
| Plugin | What it is |
|---|---|
| WD Opto | Optical tube compressor, LA-2A bloodline. Two voicings (WD-2A / WD-3A). |
| WD Mu | Variable-mu compressor, 6386 push-pull physics, six time constants. |
| WDTec | Passive tube program EQ with live magnetic cores. |
| WD Tape | Full tape machine: bias oscillator, record/repro heads, tech-aligned. |
| WD XQ | One parametric EQ, five circuits, dynamic bands on all of them. |
| WD FET | FET compressor, four circuit laws, ratio network from the 1176LN drawing. |
| WD VCA | Stereo bus compressor around one Blackmer-style gain cell, two detector brains. |
| WD Pre | Five preamps behind one gain knob, from digital wire to cassette desk. |
| WD Echo | Motor-driven tape loop echo with a spring tank. Causality optional. |
| WD AX | Exciter and Big Bottom, built from the patents. Air without EQ. |
| WD Rack | The chassis. Shared supply, slot bleed, one frame number away. |
Every module has a rear panel with the service trims the hardware kept locked inside, A/B/C comparison slots, and a seat in the rack.
Since v0.2.0
- Plugins now report version 0.3.0.
- WD XQ editor fix for rendering outside a plugin host.

v0.2.0 details: five new modules (FET, VCA, Pre, Echo, AX), M/S mode on both EQs, PAIR DRIFT everywhere, peak-GR readouts, and a CPU diet — see the v0.2.0 notes below this release.

Werewolf Dynamics v0.2.0 (beta)
Five new modules and a suite-wide polish pass. The rack is now eleven plugins.
New modules
- WD FET — FET compressor with four circuit laws: FET 76, Crush 760, Germanium, Precision. The ratio network is solved from the 1176LN drawing.
- WD VCA — stereo bus compressor. Two detector brains: Console Bus and RMS Punch. One Blackmer-style gain cell, one law.
- WD Pre — preamp with five circuit laws: Precision, Class A 73, Op-Amp 12, Tube 76, and a Porta 4-track desk channel.
- WD Echo — motor-driven tape loop echo with a 3-spring dispersive tank. Repeat rate is a motor, not a dial: turning it bends everything already on the loop.
- WD AX — exciter and Big Bottom, built from the patents. Air without EQ, sustain without peaks.
Suite-wide
- A/B/C comparison slots on every module.
- M/S channel mode on both EQs (WD XQ and WDTec): two mono units behind a mastering matrix.
- PAIR DRIFT rear-panel trim everywhere. At MATCH both channels are the same physical unit. Turned up, the right channel walks toward a partner unit — filters stay matched, amps drift like real hardware.
- Peak-GR readout and needle hold on all four compressors.
- CPU diet: UI meters run at 30 Hz, faster math kernels (Pre 2.3x and Mu 2.6x lighter), the spring tank costs half what it did, and Tape's ECO solver was re-aligned — offline renders always get the full physics.
- FET's Class A stage now measures honest at nominal drive; the grind lives in the DRIVE travel where you ask for it.
Install
Unzip and copy the .vst3 folders into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Builds are unsigned — Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
Freeware under the included EULA (LICENSE.txt). Third-party notices included.
Werewolf Dynamics v0.1.0 (beta)
First public beta of the Werewolf Dynamics suite. Six plugins, Windows 64-bit VST3:
- WD Opto — optical tube compressor (LA-2A bloodline, WD-2A / WD-3A voicings)
- WD Mu — variable-mu compressor (6386 push-pull, six-position time-constant bank)
- WDTec — passive tube EQ with live magnetic cores in the filter inductors
- WD Tape — full tape machine: record, bias, reproduce, hardware alignment procedure
- WD XQ — one parametric EQ, five circuit models, dynamic bands on all of them
- WD Rack — the chassis: shared power supply, adjacent-slot bleed, slot map
Install: unzip, copy the .vst3 folders into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, rescan in your DAW.
Builds are not code-signed yet, so Windows may warn on download — expected for a beta. Bug reports welcome in the issue tracker: include your DAW, sample rate, and plugin version.
