SoundShredder 1.3.0 — Target a sound. Mix the scene.
Target a sound. Mix the scene.
SoundShredder 1.3.0 brings experimental text-prompt cleanup, a video-connected Mixing Lab, and in-app desktop updates to Windows and Mac.
Download and install
| Computer | Installer | Instructions |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10/11, x64 | Windows EXE | Windows installation guide |
| Mac with Apple Silicon | Apple Silicon DMG | macOS installation guide |
| Mac with Intel | Intel DMG | macOS installation guide |
The Mac apps are Developer ID signed and Apple-notarized. Install in Applications. Windows publisher signing remains pending: Edge/SmartScreen may show a reputation or unknown-publisher warning. Read the Windows download guidance and compare your download with SHA256SUMS.txt; keep security protection enabled.
Python is bundled. First setup downloads the audio engine and models. Windows supports CPU or compatible NVIDIA GPUs; this Mac release uses CPU processing. You can choose the engine/model/session storage folder separately from the application location.
What's new
- Target a Sound: describe one unwanted sound, select its interval, preview, and compare Original, Cleaned and Removed. Strength and 1–4 passes are independent. Save the result as a new version while retaining the original. Quick Cleanup keeps the familiar presets and Bubble FX controls.
- Mixing Lab: extract Dialogue, Music and Effects beside your reference video; optionally import Ambience or replacement tracks. Use synchronized playback, meters, mute/solo and time-specific dB edits. Levels return to their saved value outside each edited interval.
- Clean individual stems: preview prompt cleanup on a selected channel, listen to the removed sound and export the master, individual WAVs, stem ZIP or video with the mixed soundtrack.
- Persistent session closing: Close session moves a Lab session into Closed sessions, where it can be reopened with its saved work. Split deeper remains paused.
- Desktop updates: automatic stable-release checks, release notes and download size, background download with progress/cancel, and explicit Restart & update. Later and normal Quit never install an update. Pending saves, uploads, downloads, setup, processing and exports block restart.
Already on 1.2.2 or an older standalone? Install 1.3.0 manually once. This installs the updater for future compatible releases. Existing sessions, storage choices and compatible engines/models are retained. The source/browser edition still updates manually.
Prompt cleanup is experimental: more passes can also remove wanted detail. Preview and listen to Removed before applying. Ambience separation, instrument stems, EQ/compression and recursive splits are not included.
Guides and source edition
- Illustrated community guide — PDF · HTML download
- Updater guide · Mixing Lab
- Optional browser/source packages: Windows/universal ZIP · Mac source ZIP. These require Python setup; most users should choose the Electron installer above.
Verification
Native Windows x64, Apple Silicon and Intel CI exercises installation, real CPU separation, two-pass prompt cleanup, Lab playback/export, storage recovery, close/reopen and full application update/relaunch with retained media. Signed Mac applications must pass Gatekeeper and stapling checks before and after processing and upgrading. See the versioned verification record for evidence and limits.
The first updater baseline uses this candidate's code with a lower test-only version because 1.2.2 has no updater. Functional synthetic-fixture checks do not establish perceptual quality, every consumer GPU/OS combination, or recovery from every power-loss stage. All release assets are listed in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Windows download warning
Windows publisher signing is pending. Edge may say the EXE is not commonly downloaded, or Windows may show an unknown publisher/SmartScreen prompt. Use the official xD4O/SoundShredder release and compare its checksum. This reputation warning is not a specific malware detection; GitHub hosting alone does not guarantee safety. Updated illustrated guides
Community PDF · Download HTML guide · Akira worked example. Refreshed September 22, 2026; installer bytes are unchanged. Existing app-bundled help is a release-time snapshot; the attached guides and project documentation contain the current instructions.
What you get
- Drop in video or audio and reduce unwanted dialogue, music or effects using presets.
- Target water bubbles with optional aggressive multi-pass cleanup.
- Toggle video preview while comparing the original, cleaned mix, isolated tracks and removed sounds.
- Download audio mixes and individual tracks, then reopen saved sessions later.
- Choose where larger files live, follow setup progress, cancel/retry setup, and recover when a selected drive is unavailable.
- Quit and reopen the desktop app with saved sessions retained; Windows includes uninstall entries.
Updating
This release makes 1.2.2 the repository's Latest version, replacing 1.0.3 as the default download. It uses the same verified installer bytes as the separate Windows and signed Mac 1.2.2 releases. If you already installed one of those 1.2.2 builds, you do not need to reinstall.
Help → Check for Electron updates opens releases. The sidebar's Check for updates now recognizes this published version. Updates remain manual: quit, install the newer Windows EXE or replace the Mac app, then reopen. Existing sessions and compatible engines are retained.
Prefer the browser interface? Download the v1.2.2 source ZIP and follow the Windows or Mac browser setup. Source use still requires Python.
Verification and limits
- Windows native verification, from
fec34aca4eb6e125d21c9d579fbe28ba78086094: install/reinstall/uninstall, CPU setup and real separation/export, video preview, storage selection/recovery, and close/reopen/crash tests. - Apple Silicon and Intel native verification, from
2c017845b781d709cdb7bc49d5110cf9419ae224: notarization, Gatekeeper, stapled tickets, integrity of DMG/ZIP app contents, CPU processing/export and lifecycle/storage tests. A user additionally confirmed the Finder installation test worked on their Mac. - The Windows installer remains unsigned and may show SmartScreen. Broader hardware and NVIDIA inference validation remain outstanding; Mac Metal/MPS acceleration is not enabled. Bubble FX is experimental and can affect similar wanted sounds. Compare the original and removed audio before using a result.
- Downloads are audio exports; the video monitor does not export a replacement MP4. There is no automatic update installation.

SoundShredder 1.2.2 - Windows Electron Preview
Choose where SoundShredder keeps your files
The Windows installer lets you choose the application folder. Now the desktop app also lets you choose a drive for the larger audio engines, models, sessions and temporary setup downloads.
- Quit your current SoundShredder desktop app and run
SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.2-Windows-x64-Setup.exe. - In setup, select Choose folder…, or use SoundShredder > Choose storage folder… later.
- Pick a writable local or attached drive. SoundShredder creates its own folder there and remembers it after you close, reopen or update.
Existing files stay where they are. Choosing an empty folder starts a separate engine/session setup and can require new downloads. Select your old SoundShredder folder to return to its saved work. App preferences remain in the small default profile. Uninstalling keeps your data.
If a drive is disconnected, the recovery screen offers Retry opening or another folder. It will not silently download everything to C:. Folder checks and switching keep the interface responsive; active setup/audio work must finish or be canceled first. This release also fixes startup errors hidden behind “Opening…” and close requests during folder switching.
Includes the matching WINDOWS-INSTALL.md, an offline installation guide in Help, and SHA256SUMS.txt. CPU and NVIDIA choices, live setup progress, cancellation, track downloads and video preview remain available. Windows 10/11 x64; no separate Python or terminal setup required.
Native Windows verification passed for revision fec34aca4eb6e125d21c9d579fbe28ba78086094: fresh EXE installation/reinstallation/uninstallation, CPU setup and model downloads in a chosen folder, actual separation/WAV export, video preview, setup cancel/retry and four normal/crash recovery cycles. The installed app also passed folder selection, cancellation, busy-profile rollback, disconnected-drive recovery and switching back to saved audio. The workflow passed 49 Python regressions, 12 Electron tests and setup-interface fault checks. Verification details. GPU inference and broad consumer-hardware testing remain outside this verification.
This is an unsigned Windows preview and may show SmartScreen/publisher warnings. The stable browser-source channel is unchanged. Mac storage changes are being tested separately; no replacement Mac download is being published without Developer ID signing and notarization.
SoundShredder 1.2.2 - Signed macOS Electron Preview
SoundShredder 1.2.2 — signed macOS Electron preview
Developer ID signed and Apple-notarized for Apple Silicon and Intel. Both builds passed stapled-ticket validation, Gatekeeper assessment and automated tests on the app copied from the DMG. A user also confirmed that the requested Finder installation test worked on their Mac. Download these new files to replace the older unsigned Mac preview.
SoundShredder keeps the dark/mint workspace in its own Mac window, with video preview, dialogue/music/effects tracks, bubble cleanup and audio exports. This update adds a storage folder picker, clearer setup progress, cancellation and recovery, and reliable close/reopen behavior.
Choose your Mac download
| Your Mac | Download |
|---|---|
| Apple Silicon — M-series | SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.2-macOS-arm64.dmg |
| Intel | SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.2-macOS-x64.dmg |
Matching ZIP alternatives, MACOS-INSTALL.md and SHA256SUMS.txt accompany this release. The same Mac guide is bundled inside the app. Requires macOS 13 or newer. Audio processing uses the CPU; Metal/MPS acceleration is not enabled.
Install, then reopen whenever you need it
- Quit the older app, keeping its engine and session folders.
- Open the matching DMG, drag SoundShredder into Applications, and eject the disk image. For a ZIP, extract the app and move it into Applications.
- Open SoundShredder from Applications. Python is bundled; no Homebrew or separate Python installation is needed.
- Optionally select Choose folder… for engines, models and sessions, then select Set up SoundShredder. Compatible completed engines are reused.
- Drop in audio or video, choose a cleanup preset, compare the cleaned and removed audio, and export the mix or isolated tracks.
- Quit with Cmd+Q, then reopen from Applications. Saved sessions and the selected storage location should remain available.
Initial setup needs internet and at least 3 GiB free for the engine, plus room for the app, models and media. Layer separation downloads approximately 426 MB of models; Bubble FX downloads approximately 1.2 GB. Cached engines and models work offline, and audio processing stays on your computer.
Changing storage locations leaves existing files where they are. An empty location starts a separate setup; selecting the original SoundShredder folder returns to its sessions. A disconnected drive opens a recovery screen with retry and folder-selection options. Setup includes progress details, cancellation and repair after interruption.
Verified on both Mac architectures
The native build and test run passed from source commit 2c017845b781d709cdb7bc49d5110cf9419ae224:
- Developer ID signatures, native-code integrity, Apple notarization, stapled tickets and Gatekeeper acceptance for the actual DMG and ZIP contents.
- CPU engine setup, model download, real audio separation and WAV export from the DMG-installed app.
- Video playback and its toggle, duplicate launches, saved sessions, and four close/reopen cycles including a simulated app crash.
- Setup cancellation/retry, storage folder selection and disconnected-drive recovery.
- Signature and notarization checks again after processing and relaunch, confirming the installed app remained intact.
Personal-Mac confirmation: after receiving these exact draft downloads and instructions to install, launch from Finder, process a clip, quit and reopen, the user reported that it works. The Mac architecture and macOS version were not recorded, so this is one user confirmation in addition to automated checks on both architectures. Keep standard macOS security settings. The usual confirmation for an app downloaded from the internet is expected; removing quarantine or disabling Gatekeeper is not an installation step. Broader hardware performance and subjective cleanup quality remain outside these checks.
The older v1.2.0-electron-macos-preview.1 files remain unsigned and unnotarized and retain their known Finder launch issue. This release does not replace those files in place.
For updates, storage details, SSL troubleshooting and uninstall instructions, see the attached MACOS-INSTALL.md. To uninstall the app, quit and move SoundShredder.app to Trash; engines, models, sessions and exported audio remain until you remove them separately.

SoundShredder 1.2.1 - Windows Electron Preview
SoundShredder 1.2.1 — Windows Electron preview
First setup now shows what is happening and lets you stop and retry without losing saved sessions.
- Live progress: see the current package, downloaded bytes, average download speed and elapsed time. Overall setup stages and individual downloads have separate bars.
- Cancel and return: Cancel setup stops the installer. Closing during setup offers Continue setup or Cancel setup and quit. Reopen and select Set up SoundShredder to repair an interrupted engine; some packages may download again.
- Recover from stalls: bounded network retries, installer inactivity/time limits and a workspace startup deadline turn stalled work into an actionable error. Diagnostics and status polling run independently, with a reconnection message when needed.
- Reuse completed setup: compatible engines and saved sessions remain available after closing, updating or reinstalling. The Windows uninstaller remains available in Start and Windows Settings.
Install or update
Download SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.1-Windows-x64-Setup.exe below. Finish or cancel audio processing, quit SoundShredder, then run the EXE. You can install over the previous Electron preview; keep your separate profile folder to reuse its engine and sessions.
Windows 10/11 x64 is required. Python is bundled. Choose CPU or a compatible NVIDIA GPU during first setup; the engine and models download automatically. Allow at least 4 GiB free for CPU setup or 14 GiB for NVIDIA, plus room for the app, models and media.
The matching WINDOWS-INSTALL.md covers installation, cancellation, recovery and removal. SHA256SUMS.txt contains installer and guide checksums. The same Windows guide is included inside the app under Help.
Verification
Native Windows checks passed for revision 06131f598c8eeeb6436deea8597fbb9d75ddfc4b: fresh install, reinstall, uninstall, retained data, setup cancel/retry/quit/reopen, real CPU separation/export and four normal/crash recovery cycles. The installed EXE was tested. All 49 selected Python regressions, 6 Electron tests and setup UI fault checks passed. The workflow injects stalled status/diagnostics requests into the setup interface and stalled child installers into Python regression tests.
This is an unsigned Windows prerelease. SmartScreen may show a publisher warning. GPU inference, every consumer machine/network, and sleep/resume behavior are not covered by these checks; responsiveness is not an unconditional guarantee. Mac public downloads are unchanged while Developer ID signing and notarization are prepared.
SoundShredder 1.2.0 - Windows Electron Preview 2
SoundShredder 1.2.0 — Windows Electron preview 2
The Windows app now makes its included uninstaller easier to find.
- Search Start for Uninstall SoundShredder, or use SoundShredder > Uninstall SoundShredder… in the app to open Windows Settings.
- The uninstall wizard explains what is removed and what stays. It removes the application and shortcuts while keeping saved sessions, downloaded engines, model caches and exported audio.
- The bundled Windows guide includes uninstall, reinstall and optional profile-removal instructions.
Install or update
Download SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.0-Windows-x64-Setup.exe below. Finish or cancel any processing, quit SoundShredder, then run the EXE. An existing compatible engine and saved sessions can be reused. You do not need to uninstall the previous Electron preview first.
Windows 10/11 x64 is required. Choose CPU or a compatible NVIDIA GPU during first setup. Python is bundled; the audio engine and models download automatically. Allow at least 4 GiB free for CPU setup or 14 GiB for NVIDIA, plus room for the app, models and media.
Files
- EXE: the Windows installer, including its uninstaller and offline instructions.
- WINDOWS-INSTALL.md: matching Windows installation, troubleshooting and removal guide.
- SHA256SUMS.txt: checksums for the installer and guide.
Verification
Windows build and installer checks passed: fresh installation, reinstall, uninstall, installation after uninstall, working uninstall registration/shortcut and retained profile data. The installed app also completed real CPU processing/export and four close/reopen cycles with saved sessions intact.
This is an unsigned Windows prerelease. The app may trigger a Windows publisher/SmartScreen prompt. This release does not change Mac downloads or Apple signing status.
SoundShredder 1.2.0 - Windows Electron Preview
SoundShredder 1.2.0 — Windows Electron desktop
SoundShredder now opens in its own desktop window, keeping the original dark/mint interface, video preview, isolated tracks and bubble cleanup.

Windows documentation: Read the Windows guide · Download WINDOWS-INSTALL.md. The same guide is bundled for offline use through Help > Installation and troubleshooting.
The updated community PDF and downloadable HTML guide cover presets, aggressive Water bubbles, video preview, isolated-track exports, sessions and desktop updates. Save the HTML and open it in a browser.
Install, create, return
- Quit any earlier standalone using Close SoundShredder in its setup screen. Keep the existing engine and session folders.
- Run the installer on Windows 10/11 x64. Choose the application folder and finish setup. Python is included; no separate terminal/Python setup is required.
- Open SoundShredder from the Start menu or desktop. Select CPU or NVIDIA for automatic engine setup. Existing compatible engines and sessions are reused.
- Drop your video/audio, choose a preset, and listen to/download the cleaned mix or isolated tracks. Video preview remains optional. Save dialogs let you choose export locations.
- Close the window or choose SoundShredder > Quit SoundShredder, then launch normally whenever you return. Active setup/audio jobs must finish or be cancelled before quitting. Opening the shortcut twice brings the existing window forward.
Use SoundShredder > Setup and diagnostics for engine settings, Workspace to return, or Open logs folder for troubleshooting. A failed engine can be retried; owner-pipe cleanup stops background audio processes if the desktop host crashes.
Allow 4 GiB free for CPU or 14 GiB for NVIDIA, plus the desktop app, model downloads and saved media. The engine and models download automatically on first use; this is not a full offline engine installer. Processing stays local and works offline after the required files are cached.
Preview notes
Verified: the packaged Windows application passed automatic CPU engine setup, real video/audio separation, optional video playback, WAV export, active-job quit protection, duplicate launch handling, and four launch/close cycles including a forced desktop crash and recovery with saved sessions retained. The installer was also installed and reinstalled locally, with its Start menu shortcut checked. Shared regressions passed 173 Python tests and three Electron boundary tests. Build and test evidence.
This is an unsigned prerelease. Windows may show a publisher/SmartScreen warning. Broader clean-PC and GPU validation remain ongoing. Checksums are included. Updates are manual through Help > Check for Electron updates; the workspace sidebar continues checking stable source releases.
The previous browser-based standalone and stable source releases remain available. The new Start menu shortcut opens Electron. Sessions and engines are stored separately from app files and are retained when upgrading or uninstalling the app.

SoundShredder 1.2.0 - macOS Electron Preview (Apple Silicon + Intel)
Important
Superseded: download the signed and Apple-notarized Mac 1.2.2 release. The older files below are retained for history and still have the launch issue described here.
SoundShredder 1.2.0 — macOS Electron desktop
Warning
Known Mac launch issue — September 18, 2026: users report “SoundShredder is damaged and can't be opened” after copying this app to Applications. This preview skipped code signing and is not notarized. Use the local Mac browser version for now. See the updated Mac troubleshooting. The DMG and ZIP contain the same app; changing archive format does not resolve Apple trust. Source packaging fixes do not change these existing binaries.
The original dark/mint SoundShredder interface now runs in its own Mac application window, with a Dock icon, native menus, video preview, isolated tracks and bubble cleanup.
Choose your Mac download:
- Apple Silicon (M-series): SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.0-macOS-arm64.dmg.
- Intel: SoundShredder-Electron-1.2.0-macOS-x64.dmg.
- Matching ZIP alternatives are also attached.
Requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer. This Electron build uses CPU processing; Apple Metal/MPS is not enabled. macOS 12 users can keep the previous browser-based standalone.
macOS documentation: Read the updated Mac guide. The attached MACOS-INSTALL.md, bundled offline guide and community PDF/HTML describe the original preview; the launch notice above and current online Mac guide supersede their Mac installation guidance.
The updated community PDF and downloadable HTML guide cover presets, aggressive Water bubbles, video preview, isolated-track exports, sessions and desktop updates. Save the HTML and open it in a browser.
Install, create, reopen
- Quit the older standalone from its menu-bar Quit control or setup page. Keep
~/Library/Application Support/SoundShredderto retain your engine and sessions. - Open the matching DMG, drag SoundShredder to Applications, replace the older app if prompted, and eject the disk image. For ZIP downloads, extract and move the app to Applications.
- Open SoundShredder. Python is bundled; setup automatically installs the CPU engine inside the application window. Existing compatible engines are reused.
- Drop audio/video, choose a cleanup preset, preview the footage and separate tracks, and save the mix or isolated files through native Save dialogs.
- Close the application window or use SoundShredder > Quit SoundShredder (
Cmd+Q). Finish/cancel active audio work first. Open it again from Applications or the Dock whenever you return. Opening an already-running copy brings its window forward.
SoundShredder > Setup and diagnostics (Cmd+,) opens engine settings. Workspace (Cmd+1) returns to your sessions. Retry opening can recover a failed engine; the desktop host owns the local processes so they shut down after a host crash.
Allow 3 GiB free for setup, plus the Electron application, models and sessions. First engine/model downloads require internet. Once cached, processing works offline. Audio stays on your Mac.
Preview notes
Verified on native Apple Silicon and Intel CI runners: the packaged applications passed automatic CPU engine setup, real video/audio separation, optional video playback, WAV export, active-job quit protection, duplicate launch and macOS Launch Services reopening, and four launch/close cycles including forced desktop crash recovery with saved sessions retained. Shared regressions passed 173 Python tests and three Electron boundary tests. Build and test evidence. These automated checks do not replace testing a browser-downloaded app through Gatekeeper on a personal Mac.
This release has no Developer ID signing or notarization. Browser-downloaded Gatekeeper behavior and broader consumer hardware testing remain separate from automated tests. Only open a download you trust; use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway if offered. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally. If macOS reports damage or will not offer an override, report the exact message; a signed release may be required.
Updates are manual through Help > Check for Electron updates; the workspace sidebar still checks stable source releases. Replacing the app retains the separate profile. Checksums and platform-specific installation, SSL troubleshooting and uninstall instructions are attached.

SoundShredder 1.1.1 - Windows Standalone Preview
Windows standalone 1.1.1 — reopen, recover and keep creating
Download SoundShredder-Setup-1.1.1-Windows.exe below. This update improves using the installed app after setup: closing, reopening, repeated launches and recovery from a stopped background process.
Windows documentation: Read the Windows guide · Download WINDOWS-INSTALL.md. Covers installation, reopening, troubleshooting, storage and removal. The installer also includes this Windows guide as README.md in the installed app folder.
What changed
- SoundShredder in the Start menu opens an existing workspace or starts the app again after quitting. Your installed engine and saved sessions are reused.
- SoundShredder Setup is a separate Start menu shortcut for engine settings, diagnostics and Close SoundShredder.
- Launchers check that a saved local address is responding. Stale metadata left by a crash no longer sends you to a dead page or blocks a fresh launch.
- A crashed workspace can restart from the shortcut. If the setup manager crashes, its workspace shuts down instead of remaining orphaned.
- Running the installer again preserves loaded files, repairs missing app files and restores the shortcuts. Setup-state writes retry temporary Windows file-sharing failures.
- The existing dark/mint interface, video preview, isolated tracks, presets and multi-pass bubble cleanup are retained.
Install or upgrade
- If an older standalone is running, use Close SoundShredder in its setup screen first. Finish/cancel any audio processing before closing.
- Open the new EXE. For first setup, select CPU or NVIDIA and let it install the engine automatically. Python is included.
- Use Open workspace. On later visits, open SoundShredder from the Start menu.
- Closing a browser tab leaves the app running. To quit completely, open SoundShredder Setup and select Close SoundShredder. You can launch it again normally afterward.
Keep the existing engine/data/model folders when upgrading. The app installs to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\SoundShredder\1.1.1; engines and sessions remain in %LOCALAPPDATA%\SoundShredder. See WINDOWS-INSTALL.md for storage, troubleshooting and removal instructions.
First setup requires internet and about 4 GiB free for CPU or 14 GiB for NVIDIA, plus model/session space. Engine and model downloads are automatic; a full offline engine is not inside the small installer. Package-install cancellation and automatic preview updates are not implemented.
Verification and preview limits
172 automated tests passed on Windows. The installed EXE was exercised through repeated launch/close/relaunch cycles using a real private CPU runtime, duplicate launches, repeated installer use, missing-file repair, a deliberately terminated workspace, and a deliberately terminated manager. Saved sessions and the existing engine were retained.
This is still an unsigned preview for Windows 10/11 x64. Windows may show publisher/SmartScreen warnings. Standalone NVIDIA installation/inference and broader clean-PC testing remain outstanding. Only run downloads you trust. SHA-256 checksums are included.

SoundShredder 1.1.1 - Mac Standalone Preview (Apple Silicon + Intel)
Mac standalone 1.1.1 — native reopening and reliable relaunch
This update replaces the old shell-only app entry point with a native macOS AppKit launcher. It addresses the reported “SoundShredder is not open anymore” message when reopening an already-running app.
macOS documentation: Read the macOS guide · Download MAC-INSTALL.md. Covers Apple Silicon and Intel installation, reopening, troubleshooting, storage and removal. Both Mac ZIPs also include this macOS guide as START HERE.txt.
Choose your download from Apple menu → About This Mac:
- SoundShredder-1.1.1-Mac-AppleSilicon.zip — M-series Macs.
- SoundShredder-1.1.1-Mac-Intel.zip — Intel Macs.
Requires macOS 12 or newer. Python is included; the CPU engine installs automatically. No Homebrew, separate Python installation or terminal setup is required.
Open, close and return
- Upgrading from 1.1.0: first select Close SoundShredder in the old setup page. Wait for it to close, then replace SoundShredder.app in Applications. Keep the support folder, engines, sessions and model caches.
- Extract the matching ZIP and move SoundShredder.app into Applications or
~/Applications. - Open it normally. First use guides engine installation; subsequent launches reuse your installed engine and sessions.
- Open the app again while it is running to return to your workspace. Native macOS reopening is handled by the existing app.
- Use the waveform icon in the menu bar for Open SoundShredder, Setup and diagnostics, or Quit SoundShredder. The setup screen also has Close SoundShredder.
- After quitting, reopen SoundShredder from Applications whenever you want to return. Closing a browser tab alone keeps the app running.
The app also verifies saved local addresses, recovers from stale launch metadata and stopped workspace processes, avoids hostname lookups during local setup startup, and retains explicit certificate settings. The same web interface, video preview, presets, multi-pass bubble cleanup and isolated-track downloads remain available.
Verification
Native GitHub CI runners for Apple Silicon and Intel each completed first CPU-engine installation and four launch/reopen/close cycles through macOS Launch Services, including the native Quit action and launching again afterward. Duplicate opens reused the same manager. Platform launcher regression tests also passed. Mac lifecycle run.
These checks validate launch and engine health, not subjective audio quality or model inference. Consumer download/quarantine/Gatekeeper behavior and real Mac audio inference remain to be tested. The app has no Developer ID signing or notarization and remains an experimental prerelease. macOS may block an untrusted download; do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Allow 3 GiB free for setup, plus model/session storage. Processing is CPU only; Apple Metal/MPS is not enabled. First setup/model use needs internet. Package-install cancellation and automatic preview updates are not implemented. See MAC-INSTALL.md for complete instructions, troubleshooting and uninstall steps. SHA256SUMS.txt provides download checksums.
