Release list
texscan 0.1.0
First release of texscan: find textures inside any binary file (game archives, extracted blobs), preview them, extract them, and put edited ones back, like packzip for textures. A sibling of zscan.
Download
texscan-v0.1.0-windows-x64.zip (Windows x64) contains:
texscan.exe, the command linetexscan-gui.exe, the desktop appREADME.md(with screenshots indocs/images/) andLICENSE
No installer and no runtime to install: the C runtime is linked in. See the README for usage.

What's in it
- DDS: legacy and DX10 headers, every DXGI format except planar video, mipmaps, cube maps, volumes and arrays. Checked against 123 real DDS files (every size exact) and against Pillow's decoder.
- KTX2: every layout, Vulkan formats mapped to the same decoders,
KTXorientationhonoured, Zstandard and zlib supercompression, ETC2/EAC, ASTC (including HDR) and Basis Universal (ETC1S, UASTC, XUASTC). Checked against Khronos's 50 KTX2 test files: all sized exactly, 49 decode. - Extract textures as
.dds/.ktx2, or export every image (each mip 0 layer, face and slice) as PNG. - Pack edited textures back: edit the PNG (texscan encodes it in the texture's own format, BC1–BC7 included, and rebuilds the mips) or drop in a replacement
.dds/.ktx2. Textures keep their size, so nothing else in the file moves; the output is written to a new file and verified. - Desktop app: thumbnails, a sortable table, a strip showing where each texture sits, a preview with mip, face, slice and channel controls, zoom and pixel readout, replace/revert with a before/after view, and a Pack window with a dry run.
Not yet: writing ETC2/ASTC/Basis or supercompressed textures, KTX1, PNG and other formats inside files, textures stored without a header.
License
texscan's source is GPL-2.0-or-later. These binaries include the basisu crate (Apache-2.0 only) for Basis Universal decoding, so they can be distributed under GPL-3.0; see the README's License section.
Updated after release: the zip was repackaged with the current README (a "Why texscan over AssetStudio" section). The programs were rebuilt from the same code.
