What's in it
- Formats: gzip, zlib, raw deflate, zstd, xz, bzip2, lz4, and brotli (added at known offsets).
- LZO (raw LZO1X) is included; scan for it with
--formats ...,lzo. - Oodle (Kraken, Mermaid, Selkie, Leviathan) is supported, but zscan doesn't include the Oodle library. Point it at the
oo2core_*.dllfrom your game or SDK with--oodle-dll, theZSCAN_OODLE_DLLenvironment variable, or Tools > Plugins in the GUI. - Pack reuses the encoder settings that reproduced each original stream, tries stronger settings when an edit doesn't fit, and can update size fields and relocate streams. It verifies the output before writing.
- Unpack / rebuild gives a bit-exact round trip of a whole file.
- Desktop app: entropy map, stream table, hex, text and image previews, pack with a dry run, and projects.
License
zscan is licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later; see LICENSE and the README. These binaries include LZO support through the lzo1x crate, which declares GPL-2.0 without "or later"; see the README's License section.
Updated after release: the zip was repackaged with the current README (license section and screenshots) and the LICENSE file. zscan.exe and zscan-gui.exe are unchanged.
