Release list
v0.3.0
What's Changed
- Added support for adaptive icons in the tools tray. Added a logical fallback for apps without an adaptive icon. by @xblackbytesx in #4
Round app icons
App icons are now properly round. The Tools tray, All apps and the app menu show each app's full icon cut to a circle, instead of a small square icon inside a ring.
- Modern apps: BSfreeTV draws the full icon artwork and cuts it to a circle itself, rather than using the square version the Shield provides.
- Older apps: solid icons are cropped to a circle. A logo on a transparent background sits whole on a dark round plate, tinted from the logo's own colour.
- Speed and sharpness: icons are made once, when an app is installed or updated, so scrolling stays exactly as fast. They are sharp on 4K TVs.
Tool icon size
New setting: Settings > Layout > Tool icon size (Small, Medium, Large). It shows when Tools is set to Tray.
- The default is now Medium, a good bit smaller than before, so the tray stays quiet under your media apps.
- Large is the previous size, if you preferred it.
Translated into all 13 languages.
Upgrading
Install over the existing app; your layout and settings are kept. Tool icons switch to the new Medium size automatically.

v0.2.2
Release notes:
v0.2.2
A cleaner, fully scrollable Settings > Default launcher page.
Changed
- Calmer layout. The page now shows a short status card, the
Make BSfreeTV Home and Test connection buttons, and a few rows:
Next Up access, Network debugging, From a PC instead and
Undo and recovery. - Details moved to their own pages. The Network debugging steps, the PC
commands and the recovery commands each open on a separate page. Back
returns to the Default launcher page. - Next Up access is now a row that shows Allow / Allowed.
Fixed
- Information that could not be reached. On v0.2.1 the status checklist and
the "From a PC instead" instructions could fall off screen and could not be
scrolled into view with the remote. Every line on these pages can now be
reached with the D-pad, and a test now guards against this. - The Network debugging steps referred to "a button below" that now lives on
the main page; they now say where to go.
Unchanged
- All v0.2.1 safety rules for the Home switch: it is only offered on classic
Android TV (such as the NVIDIA Shield), never on Google TV, and Undo and
recovery re-enables every stock launcher.
All 13 languages are updated.

v0.2.1
What's Changed
- Fixed a potential bootloop on certain Google TV devices when setting the app as the default home by @xblackbytesx in #3
Full Changelog: v0.2.0...v0.2.1
v0.2.0
Caution
Do not use the "Make BSfreeTV Home" feature while on this version on Google TV.
On Google TV devices (Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer, Google TV TVs)
it disables Google TV's own launcher, which makes the device restart in a loop.
Fixed in v0.2.1: the Home switch is now only offered on classic Android TV
(such as the NVIDIA Shield) and refuses to run on Google TV.
Affected?
If your Google TV still responds to adb, these commands restore the stock launcher:
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.tvlauncher
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx
adb shell cmd package set-home-activity com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx
On a device that no longer boots far enough for adb, a factory reset from the
recovery menu may be the only way back. We're sorry: this was a bug in BSfreeTV,
not something you did wrong.
On the NVIDIA Shield, v0.2.0 works as intended, but updating to v0.2.1 is still
recommended.
Thanks to the users who reported this and worked out the recovery steps.
