Release list
v0.2.9
rudbman 0.2.9 — flush rounded window frames and shared UI updates.
- Linux custom windows have flush rounded frames. Exposed corners use a 10px radius with darker shadows and a one-pixel outline. Content and dialog backdrops are clipped at the corners without extra inner padding, while tiled edges remain square and borderless.
- Windows uses the OS corner policy. The forced small-corner preference has been removed.
- The shared widget library is updated to rugpui 0.1.5. All shared UI dependencies are pinned to its published release commit.
- Workspace and query internals are organized into focused modules. Related tests follow the same structure.

v0.2.8
rudbman 0.2.8 — rounded custom windows and stronger Linux shadows.
- Linux custom windows have subtly rounded corners. A shared 6px frame keeps title-bar controls and dialog backdrops inside the rounded outline, while tiled edges remain square.
- Linux window shadows are wider and darker. The shadow area grows from 12px to 24px, with a lighter shadow for inactive windows.
- Windows 11 custom title bars request small native rounded corners. Switching back to the system title bar restores the system corner policy.
- The title-bar application icon preserves its original colors.
- The shared widget library is updated to rugpui 0.1.4.
- Build dependencies support the current Rust compiler. The async-trait patch update resolves a Rust 1.99 compatibility warning.

v0.2.7
rudbman 0.2.7 — reliable dialog navigation and text selection.
- Tab and Shift+Tab stay within the active dialog. Disabled controls are skipped, and overlapping dialogs keep keyboard navigation in the topmost dialog.
- Text selection continues beyond control and window boundaries. Text fields and code editors keep following the drag until the mouse button is released.
- Custom title bars reflect window focus across desktop platforms. The shared focus styling now applies on Linux, Windows, and macOS.
- The shared widget library is updated to rugpui 0.1.3.

v0.2.6
rudbman 0.2.6 — clearer focus cues in Linux custom title bars.
- The title bar reflects window focus. The app name and icon, caption controls, and window shadow now change as the window becomes active or inactive. Inactive windows use muted colors and a softer shadow.
The Windows installer keeps its existing application identity and registry entry, so installations of 0.2.5 can be upgraded in place.

v0.2.5
rudbman 0.2.5 — stronger write protection, and safer handling of failed saves and rollbacks.
-
A read-shaped opening no longer hides a write from the safety checks.
The query pane now looks inside CTEs and at the statement they lead into,
checks the target of EXPLAIN, and recognises SELECT INTO. A modifying CTE
or an EXPLAIN ANALYZE UPDATE goes through write confirmation and the
read-only gate; syntax the classifier cannot place is treated
conservatively. Database permissions remain the final protection, since a
SELECT can still call a function with side effects. -
A failed rollback leaves the connection unavailable until reconnection.
Restoring auto-commit after a rollback failure could commit an uncertain
transaction. That restoration now stops, further commands are refused,
and the error asks you to reconnect and inspect the result. Open cursors
can still be closed. Transfers follow the same rule for a failed rollback
of their unfinished batch. -
Failed settings and theme saves keep the previous file. Each save
writes and syncs a separate temporary sibling before replacement, and a
failure removes only that temporary file. The theme-store fix comes from
the shared rugpui update.
The Windows installer keeps its existing application identity and registry
entry, so installations of 0.2.4 can be upgraded in place.

v0.2.4
rudbman 0.2.4 — two Windows packaging fixes, and the dividers catch up with the splits.
-
rudbman.exe starts on a Windows machine that has nothing else installed.
The release build linked the Visual C++ runtime (VCRUNTIME140.dll)
dynamically, and neither the installer nor the zip carried it, so on a bare
machine — the winget validation VM among them — the program died on launch
withSTATUS_DLL_NOT_FOUND(0xC0000135). The copy inside the bundled Java
runtime did not help, sinceruntime\binis not on the executable's DLL
search path. The Windows build now links the runtime statically, and the
winget manifest declaresMicrosoft.VCRedist.2015+.x64as a dependency so
winget installs it first either way. A machine that already had the runtime
never noticed. -
The bundled Java runtime no longer carries
java,keytooland the other
launchers. rudbman loads the JVM in-process through its shared library and
never runs them, and winget's validation launches every installed executable
with no arguments, wherejava.exeexits 1 and earned the package an error
label. jlink now strips them; the download is smaller for it, and nothing
the program does has changed. -
The sidebar and query dividers light up under the pointer, the way a
split's does. Both are now dragged by the same grab band the query splits
use — an accent bar that fades in while the pointer is on it or holding it —
so every seam in the window answers the pointer the same way. The band comes
from rugpui, which pulled the splitter's
grab band out into a widget a panel edge can share; the same update runs a
split's accent bar the whole length of its seam instead of stopping 6 px
short at each end, and draws the menu button's hamburger as an icon.
The Windows installer's identity, its registry entry and the winget manifests
are as before, so winget upgrade and the built-in updater both pick this
release up from 0.2.3.
What's Changed
- Pin the 0.2.3 winget manifest to the published installer by @xcomart in #39
- Strip the launcher binaries from the bundled runtime by @xcomart in #40

v0.2.3
rudbman 0.2.3 — a small feature release.
-
Long lines wrap in the query editor, if you ask them to. Machine-written
SQL — a generatedINSERT, aWHEREof forty predicates — used to run off
the right edge, and reading one statement meant dragging the horizontal
scrollbar back and forth across it. The switch sits in Settings under
Appearance, below the editor font size.It is off by default, so an existing settings file changes nothing. Line
numbers stay what they were either way: a wrapped line is still one line,
numbered once on its first row, so a position a driver reports still counts
down the gutter as before.Turning it on or off reaches every query tab at once — every connection, not
only the one on screen — so a tab sitting behind another cannot keep wrapping
after the switch has been turned off. It is the one appearance control the
dialog does not preview live: the editors are told on save, so a preview
would show a change Cancel could not take back. The wrapping itself comes
from rugpui, so the other apps built on
it gain the same editor.
Nothing else changes. The Windows installer's identity, its registry entry and
the winget manifests are as before, so winget upgrade and the built-in updater
both pick this release up from 0.2.2.
What's Changed
- Pin the 0.2.2 winget manifest to the published installer by @xcomart in #36
- Let the query editor wrap long lines from Settings by @xcomart in #37
- Release 0.2.3 by @xcomart in #38

v0.2.2
rudbman 0.2.2 — a polish release.
-
Every disclosure mark is drawn rather than typed. The explorer tree's
arrows, a form section's twisty and every dropdown's chevron used to be text
glyphs, which fill only a fraction of the box they are given and so always
came out smaller and lighter than the size asked for. They are vector icons
now, at the size they are set — one mark across trees, sections, selects and
the grid's choice editor, all pointing the same way for the same reason. -
The splitter shows where it is. Drag a pane divider and the seam marks
itself with a bar that fades in under the pointer and stays up for the whole
of the drag, so a split that is being resized looks like one. Where a pane has
no neighbour there is no divider to find, as before. -
The SSH tunnel section no longer answers two questions with one press.
Its checkbox used to be both the arming switch and the thing you clicked to
unfold the block. The section now folds from its own disclosure and the
checkbox sits beside it as a trailing control with a tab stop of its own, so
arming a tunnel and reading its settings are separate gestures. -
A switch slides between its two ends instead of snapping, which makes it
easier to see which way it just went. -
Clearing a cell is one gesture everywhere. The grid's clearing keystroke
now stages a null the way its own "set null" command does, in both places a
grid is shown.
The Windows installer's identity, its registry entry and the winget manifests
are as before, so winget upgrade and the built-in updater both pick this
release up from 0.2.1.
What's Changed
- chore(winget): pin the 0.2.1 installer hash and release date by @xcomart in #33
- Take the splitter, the fold-away section and the chevron from rugpui by @xcomart in #34
- Release 0.2.2 on rugpui ee19d47 by @xcomart in #35

v0.2.1
rudbman 0.2.1 — a fix release.
- Blur behind the window on macOS 26. With Blur the desktop behind the
window on, Tahoe showed a see-through window over a sharp desktop: Liquid
Glass rebuilt the layer tree under the effect view gpui blurs with, and the
window went translucent without ever being blurred. On macOS 26 and later
the blur is now asked of the WindowServer directly, the way the previous
generation of the framework did it; earlier releases of macOS are unchanged.
The fix lives in rugpui, so rudbgen and
rulogman pick it up in the same breath.
Nothing else changes. The Windows installer's identity, its registry entry and
the winget manifests are as before, so winget upgrade and the built-in updater
both pick this release up from 0.2.0.
What's Changed
- Pin the 0.2.0 installer hash and release date by @xcomart in #30
- build: bump rugpui to d4f59e9 so macOS 26 blurs behind the window by @xcomart in #31
- chore(release): bump the version to 0.2.1 by @xcomart in #32

v0.2.0
rudbman 0.2.0 — the same workbench on a newer, shared foundation.
- Built on Zed's current gpui. rudbman now builds against a pinned revision
of Zed's monorepo instead of the year-old crates.io release, which brings the
wgpu renderer on Linux and lets several local patches go. What you notice:
paste reads the clipboard asynchronously, so a slow clipboard owner on
Wayland no longer stalls the window; the title bar places its buttons where
your desktop puts them (GNOME/KDE, left or right, in order) and follows a
change; a sideways wheel over the result grid moves the columns and nothing
else, and over every vertical-only surface — the tree, dialog lists,
dropdowns — it no longer scrolls up and down; KWin's blur-behind and X11
client-side decorations composite correctly. - A quoted identifier no longer splits the statement under the caret. A
"name"or`name`holding a;is opaque to the statement splitter and
the bracket matcher, the way a string already was, while still painting as an
identifier. - Shared foundation. The widget kit, the result grid, the SQL editor, the
window that draws its own title bar, the settings and theme editors and the
self-updater are now rugpui, the library
rudbman, rudbgen and rulogman all draw with — a fix made once lands in each
of them. With it comes the updater's corrected restart: after an in-place
update, macOS reopens the application bundle and Linux launches the newly
installed binary rather than the copy just renamed aside.
The Windows installer's identity, its registry entry and the winget manifests
are unchanged, so winget upgrade and the built-in updater both pick this
release up from 0.1.9.
