Shellium 0.3.7

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 18 Oct 15:13

Added

  • Update checks. Shellium reads the same release list as the download page on shellium.net. Automatic checks are on by default: one shortly after startup, then once a day while the app stays open. Turn them off under Settings → About → Updates.
  • Help → Check for Updates… and Check now on the About page always report the result. Automatic checks stay quiet when you are already up to date, when you are offline, or when you have skipped the latest version.
  • When a newer version is available, a prompt offers Download (opens the download page), Skip This Version, or Remind Me Later. The prompt does not block the terminal.
  • Skip This Version silences automatic reminders for that version only. A later release still notifies you, and a manual check still reports a skipped version. The skipped version is shown on the About page; Clear brings the reminders back. Restore defaults clears it as well and turns automatic checks back on.

Everything else is unchanged from 0.3.6.

Shellium 0.3.5

@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Oct 02:25

Shellium 0.3.5

A bug-fix release for macOS: the window's title bar looks right again.

Fixed

  • macOS: the title bar is back to a single row. In 0.3.3 and 0.3.4 the macOS window had an extra system title bar on top. The traffic-light buttons sat alone in that strip, and the sidebar toggle, session tabs and + button were pushed down to a second row. The macOS packages are now built with a newer Qt, so the tabs and buttons share one row with the traffic lights again, as they did in 0.3.2. The build now refuses to use an older Qt, so this can't happen again unnoticed.

Windows and Linux are unchanged from 0.3.4 apart from the version number.

Shellium 0.3.4

@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Oct 00:32
  • New:
    • deb, rpm and Flatpak packages for both x86_64 and aarch64.
    • Linux minimum lowered from glibc 2.39 to Ubuntu 22.04 (glibc 2.35).
    • History panel shows commands from all hosts, with Tab to switch to the current host only. The shortcuts in the notes come from the code: ⌘J on macOS, Ctrl+Alt+J elsewhere.
    • Commands shorter than 8 characters are no longer saved to history. The setting is named as it appears in the UI: Settings → Terminal → History minimum length.
  • Improved: the file manager's bottom bar is down to three buttons, host icons have no frame, and tooltips appear next to the pointer.
  • Fixed:
    • The AppImage failed to start on Ubuntu 26.04 with a missing libOpenGL.so.0 error.
    • The local terminal failed on Linux systems without zsh; it now opens your login shell.
  • Downloads and installation: the Linux rows now list the deb, rpm and Flatpak files, and I added apt / dnf / flatpak install commands.

Shellium 0.3.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 16:00

Shellium 0.3.3

A polish release: dialogs now speak your language, the current item in the sidebar is easier to spot, and the macOS and Windows packages are much better behaved.

Improved

  • Dialog buttons follow the interface language. Confirmation dialogs (for example "Upload to the current directory?") used to show Yes / No in every language. Standard buttons such as Yes, No, OK, Cancel, Save and Don't Save are now translated into all 14 supported languages and switch along with the rest of the UI.
  • The default button is easy to see. In dialogs, the button that Enter will trigger now has a bold accent-colored border, and the highlight moves with keyboard focus. The gray box that appeared inside a focused button has been removed.
  • Clearer selection and hover in the sidebar. The selected icon in the navigation rail and the selected row in the host, port forwarding and productivity lists now use a noticeably stronger highlight. Hovering over an item also gives visible feedback in both light and dark themes; previously the rail's hover color was lighter than the rail itself.

Fixed

  • macOS on Apple Silicon: runs on macOS 14 Sonoma and later. The 0.3.2 package required macOS 26. The build now targets macOS 14, and every packaged library is checked so the app can't crash on launch on an older system.
  • Windows shows the Shellium icon in Explorer, the taskbar, Task Manager and shortcuts, instead of the generic program icon.
  • Windows Task Manager shows the correct process description instead of garbled characters.
  • A proper Windows installer. The setup wizard now has welcome, license, install-location, component (Start menu and desktop shortcuts) and finish pages, with an option to launch Shellium at the end. It is available in English and Simplified Chinese and shows the app icon in Apps & features.

Other

  • Shellium is now licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

Shellium 0.3.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 05:04

Shellium 0.3.2

This is the first Shellium release with prebuilt packages for macOS, Windows and Linux, each on both x86-64 and ARM64.

New

  • Port forwarding from the host list. Right-click a host in the host manager and choose New Port Forward to create a rule for it directly.
  • The port forwarding page follows the active terminal tab. Switching tabs selects the matching host automatically.
  • Clearer errors when a forwarding channel can't be opened. If the SSH server refuses because its MaxSessions limit is reached, Shellium now says so and explains how to fix it, instead of showing a generic failure.
  • Open-source licenses dialog. Settings → About now lists the third-party components bundled with Shellium, with the full text of each license.

Improved

  • More accurate command history. Commands completed with Tab, recalled from history (↑, Ctrl-R, Alt-.) or edited remotely are now recorded exactly as the server ran them, instead of as the partial text you typed.
  • The terminal stays at the bottom while output streams. Resizing the window or a panel no longer leaves the view stuck mid-scrollback.

Fixed

  • Drag-and-drop uploads now go to the shell's current directory. Files dropped onto the terminal are uploaded to wherever the shell actually is, even after su -, sudo -i or starting a nested shell. Previously they could land in the file manager's directory instead. If Shellium can't determine the directory, it refuses the upload rather than guessing.
  • The remote file manager shortcut works again (⇧⌘O on macOS, Ctrl+Shift+O elsewhere). A custom key binding from Settings is now respected, and the tooltip shows the correct shortcut for your platform and language.
